1999 camaro 3.8 auto transmission problems
I have a 1999 camaro 3.8 automatic and my transmission needs to be replaced. It has clutch wear and debris in the pan. Is it worth putting in a new transmission? The car has 123,000 miles. I brought it to Chevrolet to get looked at and they told me I need a new one like I've explained. They said they could do it for $3,000. I feel that is way to much. I've replaced the transmission in my 1994 silverado. So I'm wondering if I could do my camaro? It sits a lot lower then my truck since on my truck I didn't even need to jack it up to replace it. So would jack stands work or do I need a lift? And is $3,000 a good deal or what? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1999 camaro 3.8 auto transmission problems
If it were me I would not put that kind of money into it, that's more than the car is worth, the money would be better spent towards a newer car, sounds like the bulk of the cost is for parts, not labor, so I dont think you'd saving much doing it yourself, plus you will need a lift. for more information do a search for transmisson swap.
