1996 camaro 3800 rebuild or z-28 motor??

I have a 1996 camaro with the 3800 motor... I own the car and it now has 152,000 miles.. I drive 100 miles a day with it as a daily driver....
It runs fine... beautiful other than the tranny slipping. I just am thinking if I rebuild the tranny.... Is it worth dropping a v-8 in? Or is that even an easy task? I just notice that all the dayum imports are coming out with more than my mere 200hp and it drives me crazy... I can take those crappy imports on turns and stuff but the acceleration has some problems....

so rebuild the tranny this summer...
Leave the motor alone and deal with it or goto a v-8 or just drop a crate 3800 in for $3300 from GM?

the car is only worth $2000 roughly on a trade in and is in great shape....

it's a daily driver man - just get the tranny rebuilt and let it be. Save up your money towards another car. There is a V6>V8 swap thread that is sticky'd at the top of the V6 forum, might want to give that a read. It's not a terribly easy task - I thinkt he general consensus is that it's easier and cheaper to just sell the V-6 and buy the V-8 car.
