Went toe to toe with a 2011 Mustang GT

Every morning I leave my area and see a bright red '11 GT. We usually play catch-up with one another trying to catch the car in front in traffic.

This morning we both turned on to the freeway...in Mexco of course.

We're slowing down for a red light and it turns green before we can come to a complete stop. The Mustang hammers it. Sounds like an automatic but I'm not sure. I mash the pedal and correct a little bit of fishtailing. The Mustang hooks much better and is about 1- 1.5 cars ahead. I hook just before 2nd gear and chirp hard on the 1-2 shift. I pull on him but not as hard as I thought I would.

We shut down halfway through 3rd gear. Not sure of the speed but I had about 1 car length on him. Didn't realize they were that fast.

GTO has an LS2 with 27K miles on it. Longtube headers, ported intake manifold, vararam functional ram air intake, magnaflow mufflers, and a tune.

Nice kill! I can't wait to get some action from one. Oil pan gasket is being replaced as we speak. I know where a couple of them are in town. It's been a while since the car has ran well so I've got a couple of things to settle. One with an 01 KB Mustang. A full bolt on LS3 better and then the first 10th camaro and 11 stang I can find.

Nice...

I've heard the '11 is quick and you've added to that.

Congrats on a sweet kill.

They're supposed to be solid 110 mph cars right off the lot. I've only seen one on the road so far. I'm sure it'll take a bit of convincing to get one to play with my boring sedan.

Saw him again this morning. He's getting exhaust and headers done as soon as they become available and wants a rematch.

I think I'll lose next time.

Headers?! That Coyote engine already comes with shorty headers from the factory. Unless he's getting long tubes that is.

if the new 5.0 factory headers are like the old 5.0 factory headers...that and the exhaust are the first things to upgrade.

The new stock headers are pretty good they say....
A tune is suppose to wake those cars up. They are pretty fast stock...

From what ive seen about the mustangs...us stock or close to stock lt1 guys are in trouble. The LS1 guys should be able to put up a fight though. My stock Z28 had no problem beating the old 5.0s...so ill just be happy with that and live in the past.

I disagree.
I think the 5.0 can kill a stock LS1 with good driving and the same trans. It will beat a 5th gen which is faster than a LS1

@John M HAHAHA yea i'll bet its real boring with that Green turbo on it.

@CamaroFBody I'm sad too say it but the '11 Stang is gonna poop all over stock Camaro's. Of course i'll be more than happy too throw them into the wind. :P
