Stock LT1 vs Acrua TL
Nothing crazy here. My brother has been driving a 2005 TL and has been bugging me for a race against my LT1 for a while (see my sig). I guess the TL is rated 276 hp and weighs about the same so he figured it'd be a good race. His prediction was that he might be able to pull me from a roll, but I'd win from a dig due to his FWD. I educated him on power under the curve.
1st race was from a 55 mph roll. Not the best spot for me, but what the heck. 3 honks and we hit it. It was even for a second and then I started pulling. He said that I had about 2 cars on him by 100 mph and was still pulling away.
2nd race was from a dig. We ran a marked off 1/4 mile. 3 honks and he spun slightly and then hooked and I just hooked (not quite full throttle off the line). It was again even for a couple seconds and then I started pulling pretty good. He said that I had at least 3 cars (maybe more) by the 1/4 mile and that I was still pulling away.
I explained that just because the peak power numbers are close doesn't mean the cars will run the same. Very fun races, even if the cars are both slow.

Sounds about right, Road and Track managed a 14.3 @ 100 MPH with the TL Type-S rated at 286 HP. They even managed a 14.5 @ 100 MPH with the Honda Accord EX-L rated at 268 HP. They'd probably both be a decent race for a stock LT1/A4/2.73 car.

The automatic slows down those TLs quite a bit. What is a manual or auto?
The TL is rated at 258 horsepower unless it's the type-S... then it's 286. Of course that's the new power ratings standards. Before that it was rated 270 instead of 258.
A manual trans TL-S would pull on a stock LT1 from a roll and make for a very good race from a stop. Introduce an auto into the equation or the non-S model and the LT1 gets the advantage all over, usually.

On paper maybe, on the road or at the track many various conditions can vary the out come.

i was kinda curious what those things ran its basically the same as accord slightly upgraded and with diffrent badging. those accord sports coupes are actually pretty quick! i ran one a while back and from a dig to 70 i only had maybe 2 cars, i was still pulling away when i shut down but still thats not bad for an accord
