Good runs for fun! 85 GT vs 94 LT1

Last night my brother and my buddy ran their cars.

My brother has a 1988 Formula with the 305 TBI. Stock it ran a 16.4 @ 82 mph. We put a full exhaust on it and it ran a 15.79 @ 86 mph, so it gained pretty good for the work we put in.

My buddy has a 1985 Mustang GT 5-speed. It ran a 15.0 @ 90 mph with a drop in K&N and a Flowmaster cat-back. They raced at the track and my brother got the hole shot but ended up losing as my buddy just crept past him slowly. After that race my friend changed over to some 3.55 gears.

Last night they lined up for the first time since the gear swap. My buddy had a passenger and my brother was alone. I was following. They lined up from a dig and my friend spun a bit and my brother took off. Once my friend caught traction he blew past the Formula and ended up taking the win by a few cars or more in the 1/4.

We couldn't believe the difference that the gears made and were psyched so today we decided to run the GT against my stock LT1. It's a 1994 auto with 2.73's that dynoed 230 rwhp.

We lined up with my brother in my car and my friend alone in his.

The first race we went from 0 to about 70 mph with my friend spinning a bit and shifting at about 5000 rpm. I pulled a little out of the hole and it looked like he might pull back but then I walked away a bit more and won by about a car length. It was a great race so we decided to run a second time.

The second race was from the same 0-70 mph. My friend spun a little more this time and tried shifting at 5500 rpm. I started pulling right away and had about 2 cars this race. Once again it was a very fun run!

My brother and my friend ran again, but it wasn't pretty for the Formula.

We decided that next up will me me LT1 against my same friend's other Mustang, a 1993 notchback. That car has a 303 cam, full exhaust, intake, cold air, 3.90 gears, and will soon have MT radials. I'm pretty certain that he's gonna walk all over me, but it'll be fun!

Also, he's gonna do the "10 minute tune-up" to the 85 GT and we're gonna see if he can run me down next time

Hell of alot of fun!
