First race in my LT1

First race in my LT1
Finally ran my 95 z for the first time after owning it since april. I lined up with a friend of mine that has a 04 Mustang GT. His car has a .30 over 4.6, longtubes, full bolt ons, tune, auto, stock gears, lots of wieght reduction. My car is a 95 Z28 with intake, SLP catback, air foil, TB bypass, MSD ignition, built trans w/ shift kit, stock gears and suspension. We lined up from a 20 roll and ran up to about 105, by race end I had about 4 cars on him. he never had a chance, i pulled him hard from the hit and never looked back.
Now this is my first LT1 car, ive had 4 mustangs before. I know this car is faster than a 99-04 Gt but should I have laid a 4 car beating on him considering both our mods? My car seems pretty quick for whats done to it. Im putting it on the dyno this coming saturday so ill have a better idea.

Re: First race in my LT1
Our cars seem to respond a little bit better to just about any mod than the 2v's. Stock for stock I ran almost even with the 2v gt's from 99-04, just a lil quicker than them. Once I started putting the bolt ons on, it wasn't close even when they matched me mod for mod.
I'm assuming its due to the power band. They have a pretty anemic torque curve.

That is a normal outcome. LT1s were the king for 5 years and responded to mods very well.
From my experience with my LT1s when stock racing mustangs, the 2V 4.6s were outmatched. My old GTA would beat them and it was stock. The 3V are much better of a race, my auto/3.23 Formula was neck and neck with a 5spd 3V to 95 where I started to inch away. We all know about the new
