BMW 135i vs. LT1 Z28
I need your opinions here. My buddy just got a BMW 135i turbo with a manual trans and wants to race. The car is bone stock, and I have a 94 Z28 convertible A4 with 2.73 gears (3.73's are on the list but wont be installed in time.) I have the following mods:
LT4 Hotcam
GM 1.6RR's
LE1 heads
Pacesetter mids
Cat delete
Hooker catback
SLP CAI
1LE intake elbow
Nitto 555R's
TB bypass
160 degree t-stat
MadZ tune
I plan to take my subwoofer and amps out of the car and race on as little fuel as possible. Im just a little concerned because his car is lighter, he knows how to shift very well, and i have these god forsaken 2.73's. So let me know what you all think. Thanks guys

Is he truly stock? Just a tune can put those in the low 12s with no visible modifications whatsoever.
They typically run low 13s at 106-107 mph. I don't think your gears are doing you any favors but they might actually help if you run from a dig by limiting wheelspin. If the gears were in, and perhaps you had a bigger stall converter to take advantage of all your other work, it'd be no contest. As it is, it could be interesting!

I out ran a 335i coupe a couple weeks ago, and as the speeds went up the more I pulled on him. We ran both from a roll and from a dig, the dig was easier. With you having a hot cam and some worked heads, you shouldn't have a problem.
