Question 95 z28 vs. 04 350z

This guy at work has 04 350z and has been talkin all kinds of smack about how his car would KILL mine. I've rode in the car and I must admit I was impressed.

His mods are-
1.Cat back exhaust (sounds really good, very loud)
2.Nismo CAI
3.Gears 3.90
4.Body kit
5.Carbon fiber hood
6.Real tall (fast and furious) spoiler

My mods are-
1.2500 stall
2.Race prepped 4L60e
3.Transmission cooler
4.K&N drop-in
5.Throttle body bypass
6.160 thermostat

I leave off the foot brake @ around 2300-2500 and with no spin and I will only race him from a dig.

Do you think that I would have a chance?

Thanks, Corey

With 3.90s exhaust and intake he might give you a run for your money. What gears does your car have?

Don't bet money on it. I had my mind changed about Mustangs when I raced a 99 for 100 dollars with my old 94z28.

With the mods he has and ive seen several dyno numbers he is around 250-255 RWHP and forget torque they are around 215-220 RWTQ. If its only from a dig you should be good, even though he has 3.90 gears and the car doesnt have alot of TQ he still needs to pull clean from the line and he will have extra shifts which would be critical for him to do fast since your tranny wont shift as much as his. So if you can take off at those rpms with no wheelspin you should have him but top end would be a close call.

My money is on the Nissan. He is 2-3 tenths quicker stock (13.7 stock) and the mods he has will make up for anything you have gained from your mods. Although this could definitely end up being a drivers race, if the drivers are equal it doesn't look good for the Z28. Sorry...

13.7...really? from what i know, they run 14.0-14.2 stock with a good driver. same as a stock lt1, so with minimal wheel spin, you should have him beat. you have the advantage for sure, just walk her out and nail it.
pick up a set of used headers and its game over. best $250 youll ever spend.
good luck bud.

Motor Trend, March 04 had a Nissan 350Z at 13.77, so not the same as a stock LT1 with 2.73s...

Google is your friend.

We are racing on 5-30 at a local track and I appreciate all of your comments, I will have my brother in-law video tape so I will post it here. One more thing, this is his first time down a track and I believe I can beat him because I do have some track time under my belt, but you never know. Whatever happens were just having fun...

I think he has the quicker car, but if he's inexperienced at racing it you will make up for that. Tough call, I'm going to guess you will take him.

His cars definately faster...plus that mild 2500 stall isnt going to help you much.
