95 LT1 vs. 08 Caliber SRT4
First off let me start by saying I no longer own a Camaro. I own the 2008 Caliber SRT4.
First race was a little more then an 1/8th mile from a dead stop. I dump the clutch at about 2500rpm with TC still on and bog the car down pretty bad. LT1 torque eats me up out of the hole and he wins by about 1 car length, 1/8th mile just wasnt enough time for me to spool up and regain what I had lost from the start. Also, boost is limited in 1st and 2nd gear in the SRT4's so I had no chance in the 1/8th. So the next race we go from a 40mph roll. He jumps slightly before the 3rd honk (he even admitted doing it) and jumps out to a 1 car lead. I start to reel him in but he shuts down right when I get to his fender at about 90mph. Had we went any longer I would have passed him. These SRT4 Calibers pull like CRAZY on the top end. We talk after the races and he says his car has 100k miles and he has a cat-back and a chip and a CAI. My SRT4 being brand new had nothing but a drop in air filter. Also, ive only got about 3500 miles on my car so it is still breaking in. I just received my new 02housing/cat delete down-pipe and short ram intake this weekend and will be installing them next weekend. Should put me in the 290whp range and give me a NICE improvement in acceleration and spool up time. All in all I think the SRT4 did pretty good. His LT1 should be at least a 14.0 car and these new SRT4's are "supposed" to be mid 14's. Dodge severly underrated the hp levels of the new SRT4's. They are rated at 285hp but are dynoing 270's. The fastest STOCK Caliber SRT4 in the 1/4 so far is 13.98@102mph. Hopefully with my downpipe and intake I can hit somewhere in the mid 13's at around 105mph. We shall see. Yall take it easy. Dustin.

I thought the srt4 caliber's were going to be faster than that!! Thery're not any faster than the srt4 neon.

It'd be hard for them to make the car much faster because it's FWD. Even 100 more HP wouldn't be an advantage until after 60mph or so. Before that it'll just be more tire smoke. Gear-based boost control is a good feature.
That platform has been proven to make some real power. The only reason I'd be skeptical is I know how hard Dodge worked to keep people out of the truck's PCM. If they do the same with a turbo car it'd negate the real reason of owning one - mods! I'd kill for a DIY-style tuning setup for the Hemi. As long as you've got a way to tune the Caliber it'll be pretty fast.

They r having a hell of a time tuning the Caliber srt4, but once they get it figured out, its going to be massive power.
Also, these cars ARE faster then the Neon SRT4's, Ive personally got 2 video's of my car beating up on them. One from a dead stop and one from a 40mph roll. The one from a 40mph roll was just a straight up massacre.

The NSRT4 that I raced from a stop was a closer race. Maybe had 1-2 cars on him when I hit 4th gear. However, the NSRT4 that I raced from a 40mph roll in 2nd gear got murdered. These Caliber SRT4's pull like CRAZY on the top end, once they hit 4th gear, they are gone. You could probably compare the top-end power of the Caliber SRT-4 vs. Neon SRT-4 to what the LS1 does to the LT1 on the top end. Get what I am saying? Right from the start the Neon will hang, but once the Caliber reaches the top of 3rd and then 4th, its game over.

Have you driven the new Caliber SRT4?? Cause I have. And I am telling you that the top end in the CSRT4 is where the races are won. Ive got videos to prove it. 3 of them. In both videos you can clearly see that in 3rd to 4th gear is where I start to pull away from the competition. 2 of them were Neon SRT4's, the other was an 06 Cobalt SS Supercharged with a GM Stage 1 kit, cold air intake, and a full 2 1/2in exhaust. I will admit that on one of the runs I missed 4th gear but you can clearly see that at that point I was pulling away from the cars pretty fast. I missed 4th gear bc I have a bad habit of instead of pulling straight back on the shifter I jerk it down and toward me, therefor causing me to go down into 2nd. However, one guy offered me the tip of gripping the shifter with my fingers pointing toward the front of the car, rather then having my fingers on the passenger side of the shifter. Since I've started doing that, I havent missed any more gears.

If I had my new downpipe and short ram intake on my car right now I would be more then willing to run your wife's GT. These is already a video up on youtube of a new bolt on GT racing a stock Caliber SRT4. From a dig, the GT takes out the Caliber. From a roll, the SRT4 is side by side with the GT. I can find the video if youd like. I just dont see how you can say what i car can and cant do if you havent driven it yet. I own the car, and I know what it will do.

Here is the vid from a dig. It is a full-bolt on 2007 Mustang GT vs 2008 Caliber Srt-4. Mustang has BBK CAI, O/R H-pipe, and Predator 93 Oct tune.

Now here is the vid from a 50MPH roll. Same 2 cars, some mods.

I am sure your car is peppy and quick, but showing a video of some guys lackluster Mustang...show me time slips.
Get a timeslip and then tell me how your 14.4@98 mph is going to pull down a car that is considerably stronger.

I dont know where you got 14.4@98mph from, im sure there are Caliber srt4 owners out there who have clicked off that slow of a time but most of them are running 14.1-14.2. The fastest BONE STOCK Caliber SRT-4 I have seen so far was 13.98@102.xxmph. These cars are gainind 25-30who with just a turbo-back exhaust. Another 10whp with a short ram intake. Hell, just doing a stock muffler delete nets 10whp. This is all done with STOCK TURBO and STOCK BOOST. Just imagine the what will happen once computer tuning becomes available and we can up the boost past 14psi.
I dont know if you have heard of them but Darrell *** racing already has a Caliber putting down over 400whp with the stock turbo and a 35shot of nitrous and running low low 12's at like 120mph. The potential in these cars is amazing and I cant wait till we can raise the boost levels, and trust me, these motors will be able to handle some SERIOUS boost on stock internals. Im not trying to start a pissing match here. I just think alot of people are under-estimating the Caliber SRT4 just because all the magazine articles basically said the car was a piece of **** and had it listed at something like 14.6@99mph, when in fact, it has already been ran to high 13's at 102mph. Just wait. You are all in for a big suprise once more resources for this car start to come out. Also, the magazines all had the SRT4 0-60mph ratings at like 6.4, its been proven they are capable of 5.8 and lower.

I havent had my car to the track yet. I bought it back in December and all the tracks were closed. Also, this is the first manual car I've ever owned so I wanted to get good at driving it before i went to the track, to avoid runnning those embarassing high 14 sec times. Right now my car is in Indiana and I am in North Carolina. Currently sitting here in my living room I have a 3" Downpipe with 02housing/cat deletes and a short ram intake kit. I am also going to delete the stock muffler. By the time I get these mods thrown on and get re-used to driving the car with the new mods(turbo is gonna spool faster and powerband is gonna be way differant) I am hoping to take it to the track and run somewhere in the mid 13's at about 106-108mph. The problem with these cars is there launching capabilities, they are terrible. Even with full slicks, 2.0 is the best 60ft anyone has been able to get. The first 1/8th mile in these cars is very bad, most of the time is made up in the final 1/8th mile of the track, that is why I say these cars pull crazy on the top end, becuase if they didnt, and there last half of the 1/8mile times matched up to there first 1/8th mile of the track times. these cars would be in the mid 15's. These cars need the full 1/4 to run decent times. Either that or they have to run from a roll. I'm not trying to start a war between you and I, I just dont think you understand these cars too well yet and I am trying to inform you on them. The only times I have to compare my car with are by racing the cars that I have. Which has been 2 Neon SRT4's and a 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged with a GM Stage 1 kit, cold air intake, and complete 2 1/2 inch exhaust. Easily a high 13 to low 14 second car.
