hey you guys i have a 94 camaro z28....and i have the non performance rear end with the 2.73 gears and my friend has a stock 5 speed 96 mustang GT and i was wondering if anyone with a z28 of the same kind raced any mustangs like this both bone stock??

well i wasn't for sure with the 2.73 gears yet...we havn't raced yet lol tho i have complete faith in my lT1!

He may get you out of the hole slightly. If he does you will pass him before the 1/8th. get some 3.42's in there and you will be very happy with the low end.

i use to own a 97 gt (exactly the same as the 96gt)... regarding the previous comment on a lt1 will rape a 4.6 sohc.. that is incorrect for sure.. the 99-04gt's come with a pi sohc (power improved SOHC) which has a lot of power.. they can be run into the 13's stock i have heard as low as 13.7 from a local guy...

the 96-98gt's however have what is called npi heads/cams/intake (non performance improved) so they only have 225 isntead of the 260 from the pi h/c/i.. my stock 97gt i was only able to run 15.1.. a catback and cai and i ran 14.7... even still that is not quick enough to keep up to a lt1..

so:
lt1 > npi 4.6 sohc

But I was talking about the 96 and not the 99+. The 96 was slow as crap compared to the LT1. What makes that statement incorrect?

my signature yes says 3.42 i have bought the 3.42 gears but yet to put them on i dont know if i'm not supposed to do that but i wanted to race my friend bone stock against bone stock before i actually did the gear swap and put my mods on

FIXED They are slow as dirt.

Even on the newer 260hp one's they are by no means a beast (obviously) but half the time they are 5 speeds and no one can drive lol. ( applies to all standards)

my opinion on the 4.6L motor is junk, my buddy has a 95z with intake,headers,exhaust vs 06 mustang GT with an exhaust. My buddy had at least 2 cars on him by 70mph.

mustangs are not fast stock end of story.

Depends on what you consider fast, coming from an f-body owner they are not fast. They are not your mothers minivan either (unless its a 96-98 ) But yeah, the typical GT is nothing special.

WTF.... i have a 95 z28 a4 3.42s exhaust only and bald tires!!.... i just raced a 96 gt automatic with full exhaust CAI and 3.73s and a 03 gt automatic full exhaust, CAI drag raidals this past weekend both dig races... before i got outta 1st gear i had 2 cars on on the 96 gt and i was still spinning.. and the 03 gt at 100 there was a 747 between us with me in front!!!! someone stated "slowstangs" no there ****STANGS!!!
