2nd time at the track, mostly stock 93 Z28, raced 95 TA

Car is a mostly stock 93 z28 m6 with original 3.23s . Mods are K&N Intake, deleted cat, flowmaster muffler, MSD Optispark. Tires are Kumho ASX 245s (all seasons) on 20psi warm (not hot but not cold)

My first trip to the track 4 months ago sucked. Everytime I let go of the clutch, no matter the rpm, I bogged to about 800. So I ran consistant 14.1 @ 102.

This time, on my first run I revved up to about 2400 and let go of the clutch. Spun to about 35, cutting a 2.078 60'. Pretty good I thought. Until I over-revved 2nd and hit the limiter, instead of shifting about 5500. Crap.
Run was 13.565 @ 103.3

O_o I was amazed Expected a 14flat but a full 1/2 second faster than I expected. I was excited and could wait for my next run, which was only a few minutes later.

2nd run wasn't so good. Dumped it about 2500rpm and spun through most of first, 2.122 60'. Then I f'ed up big time going to 3rd gear. No first gear lock out and I held it to the left I guess and it went into 1st gear at over 60mph

CRAP!

I realized it as I started letting out of the clutch. MASHED the clutch back in as I hear the rear end lock up. Slammed it back in 3rd and finished the run.
14.25@100

Then I meet a guy in the staging lanes with a 95 Trans Am m6. Had full intake, headers, full exhaust, 275 Nittos 555s and 3.73s. I was already lined up against him in the pits but I was going to make sure we ran. Which we did
I was sure he was going to knock me out quickly.

We lined up and I held it at 2300rpm. Dumped it and spun to about 25, hooked and went.
2.027 60' with a .405 light, I killed the tree He did 2.18 with a .441 light.
I was too focused on perfecting my shifts to worry about looking for him.
Hit 2nd at the perfect time. Going for 3rd, all I could think about was my last run so I was a little slow on 3rd gear shift, but not granny-slow. Right after going into third, it's the 1/8 and i look and I can't see him in my peripheral vision (helmet blocking some vision). After the 1000ft I can see him in my vision creeping up. But I had it
13.45 @ 103.9 to his 13.64 @ 104.5

Holy crap did I just do that? Novice at the track with a slow shift 3rd gear shift on a nearly stock car. I was sooooo happy. I was screaming in my car. I know it's slow compared to most of you guys but for me I loved it. He was cool about it, no drama.

I had time for more passes but with near a perfect run and the fact I could smell a little bit of clutch after each run and I wasn't going to push my luck. I babied a 4th run to 14.8@100, just because I would look like a little bitch going back through the lanes.

So much fun

You sure your best grip is at 20 psi? Most street radials have max traction at normal pressure. The 3.23's may be helping your launch though.

Your car is obviously very healthy as most stockish LT1's don't trap 103-104 mph. You'll find many more below 100 mph than above.

155k miles on it too. I don't know where optimal is. I know @ 30psi street traction (I know, completely different) is a complete joke, on a cold night I spun ALL of first, and almost to 55mph in 2nd. A 3.4 pullied GTP kept with me I spun so bad. Although as soon as I put it in 3rd, I pulled HARD on it lol.

There's nothing wrong with that '93 if it's doing mid-13's at 103. That's a very good time for that car. I'd run with that for a season before going bolt-on crazy. Maybe consider putting in some aftermarket rear lower control arms, which will help with your launch.

IT'S A FORMULA DAMNIT!! j/k, but yeah that was a good run, my worst light in a while, thought the third was the second till I saw green. I can't launch my car very well there, street I can somewhat, but not at spinworld. Watching the video and seeing your car off the line, the springs you have help you out alot, you can really see your car squat, or at least squat a lot more compaired to mine. It was fun though, good run, and that's a heluva good running lt1

I know the 98+ Formula from Firehawk/TA at first glance but the LT1 T/As and Formula's look a bit more similar.

93,s weigh less

The 93Z and early 94 cars were lighter in weight and Trans AM,S usually had t-tops,loaded option wise and besides that bird had heavy 17,s which don,t seem to hook like the 16,s.I also remember that Car/Driver and Motoring93 tested 93/94 w/6spd and trap speeds were 101 stock so w/a lightweight car and a cold air kit and Msd opti it is very possible.I mean, even on my 94Z the Msd helped and i trap 103 even w/auto and a poor 2.03 60ft and 1600 ft.altitude.
