09 Challenger 5.7l Hemi vs My 95 z28!

The Challenger is a 5.7l Hemi with a 6-speed! My car has CAI,Edelbrock shorties, cutout, airfoil, smooth intake elbow and madz28 tune!

We went from a dig to 145!

Looks like ditching the slushbox for a 6spd really lets the Hemi's power reach the ground. It seems to be a good deal quicker than the auto version.

Saw 2 of these running at the track yesterday. Both ran in the mid to low 13's.

I thought all the Challengers were 6.1L (425HP) units.

That was for 08 -- the cars hitting the street now are 09's and are available in v6, Hemi, and SRT flavors. The Hemi is rated at like 370hp in the car even though it's 390 in the truck.

Video link is not working for me.
Can someone verify that its not just me.

If its a dead link then I need to delete this thread as it does not properly describe a kill.

New one works though.....kinda funny how a brand new challenger can barely out run a 13...almost 14 year old Camaro with minor boltons.

It's not that small of a feat.

In fact, I'd say it was the other way around. The Challenger weighs a LOT more than a Camaro. The fact that the Challenger has the same size engine yet can still outrun a modded Camaro speaks to the progress that's been made in engines in the decade between the cars.

If Dodge ever put the Hemi in a car that didn't weigh 4000+ lbs they could have a very competitive car. The Challenger is really more of a "large coupe" cruiser than the Camaro is. Besides, if you're going to drop that kind of change on a Challenger you might as well have the 6.1 liter under the hood.

People that buy the srt8 challengers don't drive them much. They gurage them, and pull thim out on the weakends; using them as the weakend fun car. If I wanted a wekend fun car I would buy something like this; he wants less for this than Dodge wants for the new srt8 challenger http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...fCarsQ5fTrucks
