On Fire!!!!!!!!!

I thought that i was gonna lose my baby yesturday. I was installing those BMR sfc on my car yesturday, and my nightmare came true. I had a buddy i work with welding the driver side and a berry hit the plastic fuel line causing fuel to spray out and needless to say, sparks and gas dont mix. Ya know, usually i love fire, but not when its a 2 to 3 foot fire ball coming out from underneath my car. Thank goodness one of the guys i was working with had a fire extinguisher, or i think that all would have been lost. Anyway, now its all good, the paint on the driver door is "singed" a little bit and i need new fuel lines, but no major damage was done.

Re: On Fire!!!!!!!!!

Hey dont get discouraged, that actually happened to me and 2 of my friends today on one of our cars, but i have a question for you. Our fuel line melted on the top near where in goes into the fuel rail. Im wondering do we have to replace all the fuel lines all the way back to the fuel tank or are they in 2 sections. I dont really wanna go out and buy all new fuel lines and spend **** loads on them so any info will help

Re: On Fire!!!!!!!!!

All i have to do is replace the plastic line that burned, it disconnects from the metal line coming from the tank. I dont know exactly how far that plastic line goes though, this just happened yesturday, i havent got much time to tear into it yet.

Re: On Fire!!!!!!!!!

I think its two parts, go buy the part you need, sdont splice into it for a patch.

If you read any of the how to weld SFC one of hte first posts to each is "cover the plastic fuel lines with a damp rag"

works like a charm.

Thumbs up Re: On Fire!!!!!!!!!

On my 95 I have a 3 peice fuel line, a rubber line from the rail that connects to a metal line which connects to a rubber line going to the fuel take. I also have 3 seperate lines, to engin, from engin and vent tube.

Good luck, hope that helps.
