Front control arm bushings (lower) installation issues?

Front control arm bushings (lower) installation issues?
I'm finishing up the complete suspension overhaul on the TA. Bought the koni/strano shocks and springs, new adjustable panhard bar, rear LCA's, strano sway bars, LS1 Front brakes, etc. The only issue I ran into was installing the front lower bushing / ball joint. So I took them to a local shop. I explained that the bushing 'gaps' face inboard / outboard. I picked them up today and they are facing side to side. He said this is how it should be, and told me he had 30+ years of alignment GM work etc. so I just paid for them and left. Is this correct? ( I had the front control arms and spindles powdercoated during this process).
I was personally looking at http://www.ace1252.com/images/Lower_...wercontrol.JPG for reference and it makes me believe he is incorrect.

Re: Front control arm bushings (lower) installation issues?
Anyone have any ideas? I've tried contacting moog directly to see if they have a writeup( since k6490 is the same design), but they are closed until after New Years. Argh.(Their technical support department is)

I think Ace's photo is correct. Have you tried to contact Sam Strano? He might provide helpful info since you bought parts from him.

I shot him a quick email but I believe he's out for the holidays.
I think it's correct too. I just would like something concrete so when I take the arms back into the shop. I remember there was a specific thread on this board a while back that had a decent write up on it, but am having no luck finding it.

Here's the thread you were looking for. The conclusion, based on photos from someone's original lower control arms, is that the voids face inboard/outboard, or 90* from where yours are installed.

To me that's perfectly logical, presenting the least resistance to "bind" as the control arm rotates around the horizontal bushing.

THAT WAS IT. Money.
Crap. I'm VERY glad I did not install those control arms. I had a bad bad feeling he was wrong.
THANKS Injuneer. I'm going to take them back to the shop today and have a chat with the guy.

Nice. The shop already pushed them out and pushed them back in again, correctly this time. The guy admitted his mistake, saying now that he looks at it closely it makes sense now. Thanks Injuneer. Should be able to put her back together now.
