ATTN: 93/97 Camaro owners GM SS hoods & spoilers from GM

I found in this months Popular Hot Rodding (May '03 pg. 80) that GM Restoration Parts now sells the GM SS replacement spoilers & hoods with or without air boxes for 96/97 series SS cars. (along with chrome plated 5-spoke SS wheels) The hoods/spoilers are composite like the originals, primered up ready to go. The 96/97 SS spoiler sells for $399.00 (re-use your brake light & hdwe) The hood alone goes for $799 and it's $999 with airbox, filter and replacement struts. The airbox looks a little different than my original SS box though, but it is still funtional. They can be bought through any GM dealer or online. Definitley not cheap but you know it's gonna be right! I have an OEM SS hood and spoiler and both look great.

you should put this post in the for sale forum....alot of people would prolly be greatful, giving them the oppurtunity to buy the closest thing to an oem hood as it gets. Is the ws6 hood also for sale at similar price? I just ordered suncoast hood but would cancel order or sell hood upon recieving if i could buy an oem hood.

Damn... this must be pretty new. I hit a deer about 6 months ago with my SS and a new hood from GM cost $2000 back then.

I'd love to have one of those hoods, but for $800?

Um, $800 for a genuine GM hood is practically giving them away. Check out what anyone else is getting for a replica GM SS hood or see what GM had previously been charging (see Brent's post above) and you'll see what I mean.

Suncoast gets $600 for their SS hood and ASCD around $700 from what I've seen. So $100 to $200 extra for the real thing??? That's like Eddie Bauer at K-Mart prices.

As for the spoiler, that's a steal too. I might have seen a lower aftermarket price for it, but not much lower.

If you guys are getting better prices for same/better than OEM quality, please let me know where, because it's not in any of the usual places (and no, eBay does not count).

I will definitely be looking into the spoiler. (I've never really liked the SS hood, mainly because of the airbox location). I really have started liking the more subdued look of the '96SS spoiler over the '98+ high-rise.

If anything, maybe this will force the aftermarket body parts guys to bring some of their prices down, now that you can get the original for a reasonable price.

Hey, would you happen to have the part numbers for the hood and rear spoiler?

Thanks!

If you go to the link that JETMAN posted they are all there. But because I like to keep checking up on the 96 SS spoiler, here you go:

'96 SS Spoiler (p/n: 10778703) - $399 (MSRP)
'96 SS Hood (p/n: 10430312) - $999 or $799 (hood may or may not come with airbox and necessary hardware)

The hood part # is a little foggy because it shows the same part number twice with two different descriptions and two different prices. I would highly advise you to call GM before ordering.
