Good topic for "LT1 Based Engine Tech" forum (assuming it's the V8) not in Advanced Tech. I'll move your post there.

224/224, .565"@.050 112 lsa is good for a stock motor minus the cai and exhaust/headers. The Lt4 hot cam sounds great and will work with the stock gears heads and converter if it's temporary and you have a tune obviously

+1 with Lloyd Elliot. Cams usually go with other items like intake, heads and exhaust. You can upgrade your stock cam to a mild one with a stock motor and see a little bit of difference, I think LT1 to LT4 cam swap is popular. Also, the transmission makes a difference in cam selection (manual vs. auto).
An engine is just an air pump. The more air you can bring in, the more power you can make BUT you have to get rid of the air. Basically, larger intake, bigger cam allows bigger heads to swallow that air/fuel and bigger exhaust gets rid of it out the back. Finding the right combo of those parts is hard...........call Lloyd
