Re: 2012 camaro pricing released!
That must be in American dollars eh? Even though the Canadian dollar is pretty much at par, a 2SS vert is about 55 grand here plus a destination charge of 1500 bucks and the car is made here in Canada! Very interesting, just food for thought.

That "Honor and Valor" package must be for Senior Enlisted and Officers because there are no Junior Enlisted that can afford a $38k-$42k car on what they make.

Re: 2012 camaro pricing released!
do people generally fork over $38k at once for a car? i thought most folks got a lease-to-own deal. whats so bad for paying it off over 3-5 years?
on to other pressing news. the price is up ons ome of the lower end models by about $2000 since introduction in 2009.

Now, I've never leased a car, so I don't know for certain, but isn't there a balloon type payment at the end if you want to actually buy the car? If so, there is no way a PVT-SSG in the Army can swing that unless they are single, living in a high COLA region, recently returning from a deployment after re-enlisting with a bonus and not stupid with their money....I just don't see it.
If GM wanted to do something special for the Troops like that, make a Honor and Valor version exclusively for them at a slightly lower price that normal. They are limiting the number of H&R vehicles to 99 anyway, so why not lower the price on them instead of charging an extra $3k for a special badge and stripes?

And the UK prices have just been announced - the 2SS hardtop is UK £35,000 incl taxes (which is about US $ 54,000) and the 2SS convertible is UK £40,000 - which is about US$ 62,000. They are the only versions we will get, and will only be available in left hand drive (i.e. the "wrong" side for the UK) and are not available until spring 2012.
This is around 20% to 30% higher than expected, but they only expect to sell around 100 a year, so have a premium for the exclusivity.
I bought a new Z28 in 1999 for around £21,000 so that is 67% increase over that model, which was also left hand drive. On the other hand, GM will sell me a Corvette C6 for £62,000 - or $96,000.
There is no way I can justify that price; my wife would quite rightly kill me first!
