I am confused by this too. Dont we already know what it looks like? Or is this one that has been used for testing for along time now and was just never "unwrapped"?

It was probably just too much hassle to get it off.

the wrap is ugly. like their trying to make it look like crap. GM had a red one at Camaro5 fest, it was bad *** looking.

They must have eventually opened the hood - I saw it at 12:30 and there was the big, bad supercharger under there.

Sorry I missed you and Jason - I looked, honestly I did.

Oops, My bad, I forgot the embedded picture. The reason that the car is in camo, I would guess, is that the Milford Proving grounds are only three miles away from this show. The car is probably a test mule taken straight off the high bank of the test track. Therefore it wouldn't be all pretty like some of the more showy cars - The tires and brakes looked like they had been well used. This was probably an early iteration of the concept, hence the wrap.

Al said they had been testing it, and the type of camo holds up under the speeds, and also so Brenda Prida and Company can't get good photos to see the shape of the hood and such.

Thanks for posting the pictures, and huge thanks to GM for bringing the ZL1. GM has always been so supportive of our show. The MiFbody staff and I were discussing -- this might have been the first IVER (pre-production) ZL1 that's been displayed to the public?

I'm the fat-so in the Lime Green shirt that walked infront of Debler's camera right as he was snapping the pic

Too bad we couldn't watch the ZL1 do a test lap around the banked oval at the proving grounds. Y'know, I once got to participate in an SCCA sponsored autocross at the proving grounds. They held it in the employee parking lot. I wonder if they'd do it again? We might be able to tempt a couple more of GM's skunkworks cars out of the sheds that way.

At least you got a good haircut before posing your best side

Right on the money.

Either that or it is a recent test mule. Hard to say, they do some strange things we would never think they would do. They used a 4th gen Camaro to test C5 powertrain and chassis for crying out loud.

Remember, they are not done with the ZL1. Whatever ZL1 you see at events that look "finished" is just a concept. Remember that from the Camaro Concept days?

I sat down and had a beer with John Fitzpatrick and Al Oppenheiser shortly after the pics were taken and I asked them what was different about the ZL1 since the concept was unveiled (which was made clear it had more features planned for production). They wouldn't say much and just smiled. Then I asked them if the mule in the parking lot was any different functionally and I got the same response.

For every "show car" you see that is headed for production, there is a fleet of them at Milford having the snot pounded out of them to tweak them as far as they can.
