Cadillac ATS engine options (470HP V8)

http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1...horsepower-v-8

I'm not sure how accurate this is but I'm willing to bet it is pretty close. I like what I see.

There source is "Cheers & Gears"...so you do have a point.

But if it isn't true then it should be.

Actually I just realized what happened.

A guy on Cheers & Gears made the original post as poll. More/less said "what would you think of a lineup like this?" No one ever said it's an internal document on Cheers & Gears.

Then I guess Motor Authority saw it, decided on their own it might be internal document, and sensationalized it. Now Autoblog and others are following suit. Yay solid reporting!

If any of the bloggers had bothered to, you know, actually read the original Cheers & Gears thread, they would've seen it for what it was. It took me about 3 minutes of reading to figure out.

Seems like DI would generate more torque than that. The HP looks about right for what DI would bring to the table but the torque seems like it didn't increase like I thought it would.

If you want to blame anyone, blame Motor Authority. They look to be the ones that made it something it wasn't.

This is exactly what happened. It was a speculative thing done by our resident power train expert. He's extremely good at what he does, but we never represented that this was a leaked document. A blogger somehow interpreted this as fact.

Since I'm having to defend C&G all over the internet from what MotorAuthority is pushing as fact (I've already emailed them for a correction) just take a look at the original thread for yourselves.

Re: Cadillac ATS engine options (470HP V8)

Ohhh is that future Camaro SS powerplant in there? GM obviously doesn't have a problem sharing powertrains so could the base V8 indeed be coming in the future with 5.0 GT destroying 470+ hp?
