Thumbs down Interesting that Chevy dealers don't know who SLP is by now.

So I finally get the chance to get out of the house and check out the local Chevy dealer that advertises that they have 25 Camaros on their lot. I'm thinking "Great! I can price an SLP ZL1!"

I saw about 3 in the front as I pull up and already I'm thinking this should be awesome. Go inside and there is a BEAUTIFUL hugger orange SS with black racing stripes right on the showroom floor! I'm already drooling! So as I'm circling the SS like a vulture around it's prey I'm listening to another customer outside rev up another SS in the lot, black with silver racing stripes. This is getting real good!

So for 5 minutes of stalking the hugger orange SS, no dealers are approaching me. OK, this is weird. The minute I stepped on the Ford lot and got out to see the 2010 Shelby Mustang, red with white racing stripes, the sales person practically sprinted across the lot just to get to me (that's another bizarre story entirely!)

OK, I've waited long enough! Time to hunt somebody down! So I step through the door at one of the sales guys that's walking in and I ask him if he had any SLP ZL1's on the lot. His reply was, with a puzzled look on his face, "Who's SLP?" Wait for it, it gets worse. We walk over to the sales manager who was sitting at his computer 20 feet away from the hugger orange SS and the sales guy asks the manager "Do you know anything about SLP camaro's?"
Manager:"Who?"
Me to them: "I think I need to show you this on your computer. Why don't you look it up."

So he looks up SLP on google and right away the ZL series pop up. School is in session boys! It's not good when the customer has to teach a dealer about aftermarket cars they can sell and present on their lot. I even told them I still have an SLP Firehawk that I ordered way back in 1993 from a dealer! It didn't even go good after that. They weren't even interested how they could get one or sell me one. Ten minutes went by. I even sat in the SS after that. Then I walked out.

This is going to be a rough one boys. Unless someone knows where I can find me a ZL427 black with hugger orange racing stripes?

I think they are available only at special dealers.

Some of us know what it is, but are not "SLP" Dealers. Thpse dealer who are not, if they REALLY wanted to sell you one, would know what to do.

Got my wife to finally come with me. She liked the hugger orange SS with black racing stripes. She doesn't like the SS's interior. She felt claustrophobic. Says it feels like she's sitting in a tank. She likes the 2011 GT better.

No big surprise many people have the same reaction to the car..I hear those two complaints all the time ... as to slp unless a dealers personel were around back in 2002 at a chevy store they would not have any working knowledge concerning slp ... when the 4th gen cars were gone so was slp.... now not all dealers are slp dealers .... plus now days slp is just one of many many companies that are offering their performance packages for the 5th gen car ... it seems like we get at least one outfit every week either sends a sales rep or sends their imformantion in the mail trying to get us to sign up with them...from what I have seen there are many that offer much better packages than slp .. FYI for ya good old slp has a history of being over priced for what they offer.
