KYB AGX shocks?

How are KYB AGX shocks for drag racing?

Do they offer the same weight transfer capabilities of HALs?

I am currently replacing my agx's with the HAls I did the rears last fall with springs so it is kind of hard to tell the difference in the shocks. But the Hals have more adjustments. For the street strip combo I thought they worked just fine set hard in the back and soft in the front I ran a 10.79 with them . The only reason for changing them is because the shortime is not what it should be (I am not spinning the tires) I just want the flexabilty of the extra settings. As I start the process of elimination .So I think there right for the price.

How were the KYBs for transfering weight from the front end on the softest setting?

I don't have the ability to post a picture .But the car transfered very nicely lifted the wheels only about an inch or two but planted the tires just fine. This year i plan on running the car in super street (10.90) with a trans brake and I am doing over the front suspension otherwise I would leave them on.

The lowest setting on KYB is equivalent to OEM. The mid range 5/6 setting for HALs is equivalent to OEM. This is the inofrmation I got from each of the manufacturers when I called them.

So for the rear, where you want to go stiffer, the KYBs will give 8 levels of adjusment, HALs 7 to 8.

Pesronally for the money, I don't feel you get any more out of the HALs over the KYBs in the rear.

As far as the front goes, if you're looking at straight line performance, the KYBs aren't going to give you any more than the DeCarbons. You want to go softer up front and the KYBs will never get any softer than OEM.

A good value combo is HALs in front and KYBs in the back.

Good Luck

i have the agx. well i was not that impressed but or the price its not so bad i guess. i have the agx in front and non adj 50/50 in the rear. the car lifts up pretty well but i thought it would be different.
am i corect in runnin the softest setting in the front. i still have the swaybar hooked up, should i ditch it, im not worried about cornering capabilities.

Just wondering,

How can the lowest setting on the AGX be = to OEM?

Are you guys running blown out OEM units?

Just a thought, but I hear that Strange is coming out with shocks for 4th gens. They are comparable in price to the KYBs and are more suited for drag racing. I am yet to upgrade my suspension, but I'll most likely end up with Strange or HAL.
