C7 pop up head lights

I know must were against the C6 not having pop ups, are we collectively happy about that decision after 5 years? Or should they come back on the C7.

No ... the reasons they went away are still valid: cost, weight, reliability, packaging. And with today's sophisticated optics, there's very few styling drawbacks to having exposed lights.

If properly done, I still stand on how I felt before the C6 came out.

Concealed headlamps... but they dont have to necessarily pop-up.

That said, I think most people have come accustomed to the exposed headlamps now, though I tell myself that the C6 lights are kinda concealed in the fact that the are body colored... , well, expect for those few special edition ones that weren't

Pop-up headlights = slower at night.

I disagree. The only thing I hated about the C6's styling was the headlamps. To me, the concealed headlamps have always been a Corvette tradition and I think they should keep them. Of course I realize that exposed headlamps are not as practical as concealed headlamps, but I don't think every single thing on the Corvette should follow the "function over form" formula.

After all the fuss over exposed headlights, I hope they stay. Just so we don't have to go through all that over again.

Aren't pop-up headlights illegal now?

What would be neat is if they had a way to tint the lenses of fixed headlights body color..but allow just as much light through at night. A lot of designers like having headlights..it allows them to make a face on the front of the car.

In some locations, yes.

Having owned a C5 and C6, this is one area where the performance of the lights on the C6 overrides any stylistic concerns I may have about the exposed lights. My preferred option would be popup HID's, but if I had to go one way or the other, I would choose the exposed HIDs from the C6, no question.

What I WISH they would do is bring back the split grille, the C6 looks like a catfish.

There's zero advantage to pop up lights. Aerodynamics? I don't think so... the C6's lights are body-shaped. Looks? I think the C6 lights look FAR better than the C5's lights. Pop up lights aren't cool, effective, or good looking... they're corny, expensive, unreliable and heavy.

Without even talking to the GM engineers I'd bet a lot of money that the Vette will not have pop up lights for the C7 or likely any future model unless they're doing it strictly as a styling throw back.
