1.796 60' with BFG DR and full suspension?
So I went to the local 1/8 mile track Friday and the best 60' time I could cut was a 1.796. This is with 315/30/18 BFG drag radials(not the best for traction) but still. I have a bolt on 96 LT1 that put down 263 hp and 268 torque through a built tranny with a 2800 stall and a 12 bolt with 4.11 gears. I've also got a full suspension that should be set up for maximum traction although I haven't checked the pinion angle since the 12 bolt went in.. The car is also lowered 1 1/4" and the LCA's are set to the top hole in the relocation brackets.
My best run was a 8.419 at 81.92 mph with a 1.796 60'. I did a decent burnout with about 15psi in the tires and most of the runs I was still spinning all the way through 1st. Race weight should be right around 3560 lbs.
So are my tires limiting me or is that about the best 60' I can get without adding power? I can tell on my last run that it hooked up pretty damn well, but I don't if I was still spinning a little or not.

the LCA's should be in the lowest hole especially since its lowered, an 18" tire doesn't give you much sidewall , move your LCA's and get a 15" tire and it will do better

here are some things hurting you
lowered
low on h.p.
tire/wheel combo
with that gear I bet your driving out of the power range
LCA not set up right.
heavy
Pinion angle is off from being lowered
I'm sure there is alot more too, so I would be pretty happy with the numbers you put down considering the set up of the car....... If you car is lowered etc. and on 18's its obvious you don't want an all out drag car, and thats fine. You just can't expect max performance out of it.

The top hole on the LCA brackets makes the LCA's parallel with the ground, which is where they are supposed to be at, correct?
Also I know 18's won't hook up well compared to 15's, but I just want to make sure there is nothing else causing traction problems.
As far as the gears, I purchased the rear end as advertised with a 3.73 gear, so the 4.11's were quite a surprise.
I wouldn't think the pinion angle would be off too much since I had it adjusted properly with he 10 bolt and the torque arm wasn't moved for the 12 bolt install.
Also I want to get everything set up for the new motor combo so I know I'll have 1 less thing to worry about later.
I just wanted to get some base runs in while I can since last Friday was my only Friday night off until around September.

If they're spinning at all, the tires are hurting you. I'm impressed at the ET myself. That's like 12.80's @ 106 mph roughly in the 1/4. I'd always work with what you have first. Check the pinion and set it at 2-3 degrees negative. Drop the lca a hole or two. I think that tire should hook up with that amount of power and good suspension parts doing their job. Goodluck!
As stated above, a 3500 stall and 15" M/T Drag Radial tires on some stock rims would make things move out better and also be more consistant.

I got a good deal on a 2800 triple disc stall which should stall at around 3200 with my new motor, so I picked it up. My buddy is installing a 3600 stall. Hopefully I can take it down the track a few times to see if I like it or not.

you will
It will wake your car up large.
2800 is too small for your combo you need 3200-3600

Were supposed to be racing tomorrow. If I hook up, I'm pretty sure I'll take him since hes still got 2.73's. I thought a 3600 would be too high with a bolt on LT1, but everyone says it'll be just about right. I figure with the LT1's stout low end torque the 2800 would have the advantage.

And why is your 2800 going to stall at 3200 in your car?

I'm saying with my new motor combination going in this winter it should have a higher stall because of the increased hp. That's why I didn't get to carried away with the stall speed.
I also raced the guy with the 3600 stall and I spun through 1st and half of 2nd and still beat him by at least a couple cars. I know he'll pick to some in the tune, probably 15-20hp, but I think his 2.73's are really holding him back.
