Exclamation Has anybody noticed....

.... that despite the economic recession, that Pontiac's G8 sales have barely dropped!!

In May with nearly $5 per gallon gas, 1800 G8s were sold.

In June & July, 1500 G8s were sold each month.

In August (with the help of Employee Pricing) 1900 were sold.

In September, 1600 G8s were sold.

October dropped to 1000 sold.

November climbed to 1100.

December jumped to nearly 1500 cars.

Finally, last month GM sold over 1300 G8s.

All of this at a time GM's overall sales have plunged 50% and G6 sales have gone down over 80%!

One can only imagine what G8 sales might be if the economy wasn't as bad.

Other intresting G8 facts as other cars dropped while G8 sales stayed stable.

It came within 30 cars of outselling the Cadillac DTS last month.
It outsold Corvette by just under 2 to 1.
It came within less than 300 cars of outselling the Aveo.
It came within 22 vehicles of matching the sales of the regular Escalade.
It outsold the entire Hummer division.
It also outsold every Infiniti model except the G sedan.

It may not be blazing the sales charts, but it's proving to be a very solid and dependable hitter!

The problem is getting people to just test drive one. That is all it takes. It is just an all around an amazing car. People are just scared because it's a "Pontiac".

A lot of people dont even know the car exists. Was watching TV with a bunch of people at my house the other day and the G8 commercial came on. Everyone loved the car and couldnt beleive it was a Pontiac. I then had to go into a 5 minute monolog on how great the car is.

When we saw it at the NAIAS I told my wife that if we were to buy a car with a solid roof, it would be a G8 GXP. Two problems: no GXP in Canada; we don't have cars with a solid roof (except for my track duty 1LE).

I really hope the G8 proves to be a success as I want GM to keep offering that type of vehicle.

The biggest challenge this car has is overcoming the stigma of the G3, G5, G6, Montana, Torrent, etc.

GM, where is your Bare bones model priced along side the cheaper Chargers to add some Volume??????????????????
I love the G8...but from someone who has owned several pontiacs, i absolutely hate that it is called a G8.

I agree that the car is doing reasonably well considering the overall state of the market.

But on the other hand, you can't really call it a big hit either.

Also, the G8 was never really about "volume", but instead trying to spruce-up the reputation of the Pontiac brand. If GM wanted to sell the maximum number of Holden imports, they would have put it in Chevy dealerships instead.
