Smile My PBW is Mar. 30

This afternoon I went to my dealership and spoke to the Sales Manager who orders their vehicles. I confirmed I am the first of two cars the dealership has allotted to be built during the first month of production. He said my 1SS is projected to be built the week of March 30th. The dealership went ahead and removed the Hurst STS from my order due to the constraint, without letting me know beforehand; I'm not upset as I would have done it anyway. He said that the dealership will install it, and the price I pay will include their installation. He confirmed what others have posted; the STS option will not be included on the window sticker.

I was read back the options and they were the correct ones I ordered. It wasn't until I got home I realized he never said anything about the RS option; I'll have to clarify with him tomorrow that the RS option was ordered. Does anyone know if this can still be changed if by chance he failed to order the RS package?

I want to thank CamaroScotty for suggesting those of us who had the STS removed from our order, go to the Dealership and confirm our orders still contained the RS option. I went back to the SMP Dealership, and Robert Mann, the Sales Manager, checked the order and determined that the RS Option had not been ordered. He will call GM on Monday and have my order amended.

I have had a very good experience dealing with my Salesman, Dan Barrett, and both Sales managers. If anyone in the Saskatoon area is looking for a Camaro, I recommend Dan and SMP, as they have received a further allotment from their initial 8.

Do you know the order status # your order is at? How did your dealer know the week it will built already? My dealer told me last week that my order is still at 1100 status and I am #1 on their list and I know they have been alloted at least 7 or 8.

I'm not sure if my order status was 3000 or 3300, but the Sales Manager was looking at the order on the computer for more information and he said the projected build was the week beginning Mar 30th. I should have asked for a printout, but didn't. I'll ask for one next week.

Did your dealer get any allocations the first month? They should be able to tell you this.

One of the reasons I went in yesterday was because I never heard anything from them, and in the back of my mind I was a little concerned they may have moved a long time customer ahead of me. To their credit they are doing in fairly; first person to put down a deposit went first...

Although SMP only had 8 allotments they had 2 the first month of the build. I believe they are the number 1 dealership in Saskatchewan, and this may be why they had two allocations for the first month.

Thanks for the info. I e-mailed my dealer to get an exact allocation amount. We discussed it a while ago but I don't remember the exact amount and what he had available for the first month. He did assure me that mine would be built early into production, but we shall see.

The SMP Sales Manager, Robert Mann, just advised me that my order was amended by GM to include the RS package.

I decided not to push my luck and change from 1SS to 2SS; I'll stick with my original plan and go for all the performance accessories, when they become available.

the husrt short throw shifter is going to be on the window sticker if you order it. they had over 50% of the manual camaro's wanting the hurst sts. they decided to have them installed at the plant instead of being a dealer installed ite,. i cancelled mine off too, but it would have been on your window sticker had you kept it on.

You're right; eventually you will be able to order the Hurst STS and have the it installed at the factory. However it is my understanding there is still a constraint on the STS, and the order won't get pulled if it is on there.

The way GM sales are diving here in Canada and the States I'm not taking any risk, and waiting until I can order the STS shifter and have it installed at the factory.

your not understanding me. the STS is going to be installed from the plant right off the bat. meaning, this is what is holding up the production on the STS orders. they have to work in a place in the assembly line to install the shifter and they have to get all of them in stock. so in conclusion, the HURST SHORT THROW SHIFTERS will be installed from the plant in CANADA right off the bat at the beginning of production. this is from mr fitzpatrick himself. i talked to him saturday about this.
the order isnt getting pulled because they are backed up on the shifters and working the shifters into the assembly line.

Well that's great news, but GM had better hurry up and tell the dealers so we can change our orders back to include the STS. I'm picking up my Workbench order today so I can see what my status really is.

if you add it back on its going to delay your order. unless you dont care about it being delayed but i cant wait that long just to have a shifter on my invoice.

No I'm not going to do anything that will delay my car being built. I'll get the STS added later by the Dealership.

The Workbench order form, or whatever it is called, should have boxes on the bottom of the form that deal with the constraints; if you want the Hurst STS you include it in the box; if GM removes the constraint they just automatically pull the STS into your order. This way you don't have to worry that your dealer hears of the change in time, and updates your order.

That's not what the constraint said. It was pretty clear that they WON'T be installed at the beginning and that unless you wanted to wait for your car to come up later, you needed to remove the STS from your options and move on. Nowhere else have I seen that it was going to be available from the beginning.

Why would they tell everyone to remove it if it was going to be available.

Another misleading piece of information............

its not available in the beginning because they dont have them in stock.however if you have an order with the sts on it it will still be made from the plan with it but its going to be delayed. but it is going to be installed from the plant. cars WILL be delayed that have the sts on the order. read what im saying.

Keep posting the same thing in slightly different ways; maybe they'll start to understand.
