How fast will the Auto react to inputs?

Does anyone know how long it will take the auto to shift from one gear to another? I feel that just up until recently most paddle shifting cars had relatively slow transition times (from the time you push the paddle till the time it fully engages the next gear.) It wasn't real slow but you could still knock out a powershift quicker. I've driven a Grand Prix and ridden in an Audi with the Flappy Paddle Gearboxes (as Top Gear puts it) and they were alarmingly slow when changing gears.

So does anyone have a link or can post the shift times of the Camaro as compared to the likes of our German counterparts?

I know the last thing I read/heard about the A6 and shift times was that GM was working very hard on greatly improving the times to make them very quick. I also heard that they were supposed to be greatly improved over the A6 setup on the C6. As far as real test information, we will not know that for at least a month or two, maybe longer.

Worse case you can have them reprogrammed. The C6 guys are getting that done for about $100. Hopefully the Camaro is tuned better from the start and I can put that mony toward headers.

What are they having reprogrammed? Shift firmness? Shift speed? I haven't been in one to see what the paddle shift is like. If they are shortening the shift times for $100 then the Auto may be my choice for the new Camaro.

The only problem is that if you have any kind of problems and they find out that the ECM was reprogrammed, different from factory settings, then your warranty will be voided.

Yeah... if they're taking out the torque management, you can kiss your warranty goodbye!

I think they are shortening the length of the times by boosting line pressure and leaving torque management alone. I'd be nervous about the warraty with the tune regardless.

If it's going to be built as durable as they say it is then one shouldn't have to worry about warranty issues. Changing back to stock should only take a few minutes at best. Now if the ECM is intrusive enough to remember that I had changed some parameters at one time then it's a deal breaker for me. Unless my first sentence holds true.

I hop around the boards, one of the G8 guys says he carries a stock PCM in the trunk if he ever needs to swap it for warranty work. I don' tknow if he does it because it's quicker to swap than hook-up and reprogram or if the PCM actually records changes. I do remember reading somewhere that GM was looking into the technology to record any PCM changes but I don't know if they are implementing it any current models. Do the personal PCM tuners have a "default" setting that will flash the tuning back to original OEM with the push of a button or does it have to be done manually for each setting?

I'd like to tune the A6 if the stock shifts are too slow.

The PCM recordes every change done to it, and only certain reprogramers can actually erase or alter that info.
So a hypertech program will leave an electronic information trail saying that the computer information was altered between such and such date.

I have heard that people save thier OE PCM, while getting new PCM's and having them programed.

I just drove an A6 2SS this weekend. It is reasonably quick. But not instant. I was not dissapointed in the performance of the automatic at all.

Video, we can work that out. Driving, not sure when the CTF car become "public consumption".

Awesome, let me know!! I just got another camera mount to put my digital camera on for inside of the vehicle as well as the one I had for outside!!
