Portable GPS Mount

Does anyone have any good ideas for where to mount a portable GPS (not on the winshield!!)?

I am getting the 1SS... I wonder if it will have the 4 guages on the console? If not, this might be a good place to mount a GPS.

My current GPS has a MP3 player. I will be hooking it up to the aux input (i think that is in the console). I guess I can run the wires under the console.

It would be nice if there was a 12V jack that only worked while the key was in the ignition, so that the GPS doesn't drain the car battery if I screw up and forget to shut it off. I guess it could drain the battery just charging.

Only on the 2's, but I believe it can be added as an option.

I can't remember seeing it anywhere, but I would assume it has a run-down protection feature like my other two Chevy's. Twenty minutes after key off and it kills all the power.

my 2001 impala doesn't have the 20 min thing.

Anybody else plan on mounting a GPS somewhere other than the winshield? If so, what are your plans?

I know of someone who has a weighted bean bag type mount that just sits on the dash and doesn't move unless you are performing a big evasive manuver. Pretty slick!

something like this:
