It would fit, but the stock tires are 275/40/20. If I did the math right, you would only end up with a half inch less sidewall (assuming that's what you're trying to do) while throwing off the overall diameter by about an inch, affecting speedometer and mileage by a good bit.

I really doubt it would affect mileage at all. as it is, it's going to be chugging in 5th and 6th.

Good point. And I just looked it up...you would only be off about 2.5 mph at 65.

why would you want to drop the side wall size of the tire without changing the rims size or width? just curious.

my neighbor did it to lower the car a bit(but it really made the ride a lot worse).
I am hoping a little wider tire will fit!

For the price of the rubber...it would be cheaper to just buy a spring kit for it. The Eibach I have on mine ran me around $500 total.

im confused, are you trying to lower the ride height or widen the tires?
lowering the ride height, i would just get a lower profile tire, its not really going to lower it much at all. go with springs.
if your trying to widen the tire size, i heard that the size on there now is about as wide as they can go with out any changes to offset and backspacing. you can probably do a 285 without changing things but any wider and you may want to get a new wheel and change the offset.

actually as an F-Body autocrosser I was wondering if it will fit at least a 315 sized tire as thats what we run on all 4 corners on our 4th gen cars. seeing as this car is some 400#'s heavier I was hoping that it could fit somewhere in the order of 335 to 345 to make up for the additional weight. and at least a 315 up front. that's all

sure, with modifications. theres not way your gonna lsap them on and expect it to not rub. anything can be done to this car. it just depends on how much you want to modify it. but they said the size on there now was about as big as you could go without cutting anything or modifying anything. i bet you could go up to a 285 in the rear atleast.

I hope it can take. As large a tire as the 4th gen. Currently we run a 315 on all 4 corners without any mode other than longer wheel studs, a1/8" spacer and a rolled outer rear fender lip. At 3800# it would need at least that much to be competitive I would think
