Pricing subject to change?

so i ordered my camaro last monday when we first found out we could order. my dealer didnt have the pricing available when i placed my order. so today i went in and asked them if they had the pricing and if they could get me some sort of an invoice for my sale. they told me they got the pricing but it was all subject to change. is this normal??? this is the first car i have ever ordered and first one that isnt even available yet. i just want to know if this is ok or if i need to get something from them that i dont have. any help?

A sales order is a contract between you and the dealer. NEVER sign anyhting without a price.

GM's pricing is NOT subject to change. Your dealers pricing may be subject to change. But if you get it in writing then you'll be covered. I got an invoice with my pricing from my dealer that said exactly what the sale price is going to be when my order arrives.

GM could change their prices at any time (not that I expect them to)

Just be sure before you sign it is the price you are expecting, then you will
be assured of your deal . MSRP is MSRP so unless they are going to rape you
you should be fine. Pricing is available, so if they are not willing to set a price
now, then look out that your not going to have to grab your ankles.

it doesn't matter AT ALL if they put in writing and you sign as much paperwork as you want. When the car gets there, they can still back out and mark it up. The car is, literally, NOT yours until you physically drive it off the lot.

well, i dont see them goign behind my back and selling it so this could work for my advantage IF they try to screw me. and actually if i get it in writing it is a legal contract negotiated between the 2 parties.

If you sign a contract, you ARE protected. You're price is not subject to change. There are numerous laws that protect the consumer in these circumstances. Dealers must comply with them or face license revocation and/or fines.

GM can change pricing at any time - BUT -- if your order is a 'sold' order, we give 'price protection' to the dealer........so that the price on your car will not go up.......

But don't worry, Ford won't raise the price of the new 2010 Mustang a lick, it's been promised by our own members here. They don't work for Ford or are associated with Ford in anyway, but we have been assured and we'll eat crow otherwise, MMMmMm CROW!

~on topic. I expected a Price subject to change line, they aren't even making them yet as far as I know.

GM gave Ford some room for price increases when they priced the Camaro $3000 over the Mustang.

I ordered a 96 Impala SS and the MSRP went up $500 or so and the dealer said I had to pay it when the car came in. So I told them I was going to call the 1-800 Chevy number to see what they had to say about it. They changed their tune pretty quick and said I was price protected.
