Height & Width for dirvers

What is the range of drivers that can comfortably fit in the car? (height & width)

Will there be tilt & telescoping for the steering wheel?

Will there be huge side pockets on the doors to limit the hip room?

Rick wagnor is over 6ft (6ft 7 if I remember correctly)and he fit just fine

If your height is in your torso, the headroom will be a bit tighter than if your height is in your legs. There is a ton of legroom - so much so that I really had to move the seat far up from the back position. I have a 33" inseam, if that gives you a better perspective...
My only regret was not bringing a helmet to Milford so that I could check out headroom while wearing one!

It should be OK!

I have no idea how wide you are, but I think that you are part of a bigger (if you'll pardon the pun) demographic than the tall folks and GM must know that...

This is how I am comparing currently...

Test subject: Me
Height: 6' 4"
Weight: *cough* 235 lbs

2006 Evo 2010 Camaro

Front head room 40 " ---- 37.4"
Rear head room 37 " ---- 35.3"
Front shoulder room 54 " ---- 56.9"
Rear shoulder room 53 " ---- 42.5"
Front hip room 51 " ----
Rear hip room 50 " ----
Front leg room 43.0 "---- 42.4"
Rear leg room 36.6 " ---- 29.9"

As you can see from my crappy attempt at a chart.... They are fairly close in the front cockpit area.
With my seat all the way back leg room is not too much of an issue. If I slouch, my knees are bent a little more than I like but not bad for a manual tranny. Long drives are a different story.

Not sure about the shoulder room numbers, the Evo has Recaros' and even though I am a bit soft in the middle the fit is perfect.

Head room is not an issue at all due to the seats sitting very low.

Rear is a different story, but I don't sit back there so it's not my problem.

Overall the Camaro is much wider, so I can't see too much of an isuue side to side.

I could be wrong. After all... My wife tells me I'm wrong 99.9% of the time.

my big thing is that my left arm should comfortably rest on the arm rest and not be forced to the window sill. I really felt cramped in the 4th get in that regard. It's actually what kept me from buying one.

Headroom was fine. The tilt and telescoping steering wheel settings had enough movement so that driving position was comfortable for him and he could see all gauges clearly.

Big folks, worry not. You will fit fine unless you are gargantuan, and if that is the case, you probably won't fit in many cars anyway.

I would like to see the shoulder room numbers of the 5th gen compared to the 4th gen. This is a big concern to me. I have excellent shoulder room in the 4th gen, the C6 is a little tight but very acceptable, and the C5 sucks.

ummm...I kinda am "gargantuan" (yup, no PC here!) at 350 lbs...but I was quite comfortable in my 1998 Regal and am mostly comfortable my 2005 Allure.

Anybody know the interior specs against a '98 Regal GS?

Hi All,

Well I am car shopping as my lease is up on my Allure.

I drove a G8 yesterday and I have to say two very negative things that I hope are not in the Camaro:

Pedals are waaaay too close together...I actually got my foot (ok size 14 but that shouldn't matter) stuck trying to brake.
Tilt/telescoping lever at the bottom of the column and way back, not very easy to use....also one lever for both. I had a hard time adjusting the wheel because the damn lever was way out of reach, and also one lever for both?

Other than that the G8 is a very nice car...and I only drove the V6...plenty of power.

I think there's a modern trend in vehicle design to include more vital room for occupants in a crash. More head room, more room between the dash and the knees, more distance between the head and roof rails and window glass, more adjustability in steering wheels and pedals.

The GTI, which is a classically "small" car, that also has all the new safety requirements including elevated hood height, high beltline on the doors, etc...I can't push in the clutch when the seat is all the way back or reach the wheel when it's all the way in. I'm 6'4" and 230lbs right now, and most of that is legs.

The Camaro looks as though it will be accommodating with all the new safety requirements. It's a much bigger car than the GTI with seemingly more upright dimensions on a longer and wider chassis. I'm thinking I could possibly feel like I'm driving a big kid's car again looking over that long hood. And that's a great feeling.

The 4th gen had extreme limitations making it almost unsafe for larger/taller drivers. The driver's seat (with no headrest) had to be leaned back in order to accommodate taller heads and bigger bellies. The roofline tapered inward making the t-top or roof rail uncomfortably close. The steering wheel did not telescope, making it uncomfortable for taller/bigger drivers to reach when they were practically sitting in the back seat.

In other words, vehicle design has come a long way. The 4th gen was designed well over 13 years prior to the design of the 5th gen. You'll be fine

If you like the car just make yourself fit, maybe with a few modifications...tilting the seat back, moving it all the way back. I mean, I am 6' 6" 230 lbs, and i actually fit pretty nicely in my 93....i know the seat foam is worn in, but hey. I would still buy the new camaro even if I had to squeeze in a little...its a price to pay to drive a nice, fast car.
