L99 heads vs LS3/L92
the L92 and LS3 share the same head/port design, can we assume that the L99 heads will also be the same as the LS3/L92's
looking to have a set of heads ready to go for the new camaro

i know,, i wish there was a little more info about the L99 engine, most rumors are that it is the same engine as the LS3 but the block is designed for the AFM/DOD
so my plans are to have parts ready, some cnc heads, cam, and standard LS2/LS3 lifters and eliminating the AFM/DOD(as long as there is a programmer/tuning out for the car), and the usuall bolt on's

The L76 uses the same heads as well. And it too has AFM. the only major difference is the L76 is a 6.0 vs. 6.2.
If it shares the same valvetrain as the L76, which I think it will since it has AFM and is also limited to 6000 rpm, then cam may be a problem. It could result in valve float. Or, atleast, the longevity of the springs that would be put in to match whatever aftermarket cam is put in. The LS3 uses hollow sodium filled valves to offset some valvetrain weight since the valves are pretty massive. The L76, on the other hand, uses cheaper, solid valves since it's limited in RPM anyways and helps GM save on cost.
I can see the L99 having the same valvetrain as the L76.

that is why i will have a set of heads ready to go, along with a cam and standard lifters,, pretty much the same set up i have on my s-10 but the L92 heads will be cnc ported for the camaro,, my s-10 pulls hard to 7500 rpm with no issues of valve float

Then why is the hp rating different? There must be some other difference....cam? tuning? compression?

the cam, lifters and tune are different.
the valvetrain is PROBABLY different.
