To those in the know: Why no NAV?
I think GM's insistence on pushing On-Star at the expense of offering a proper NAV system is a poor decision. Sure...offer both, but if you can only get one, I want a NAV system.

I'm with you 100%. I want a NAV system, not Onstar.

I just use the iPhone anyway!
Seems odd to me but GM and OnStar are one in the same so why not promote your own product.

Using that logic, NO GM car should have a NAV system, and that just isn't true...unless its a new direction for them.

Exactly. Since it IS available in some models, it should be AVAILABLE in most models as an option. I think Dodge was charging like $1,200 for thiers when I bought my Daytona. They throw them in FREE now.
There's no substitute for seeing a map. I have rarely NEEDED my NAV, but I LOVE to track my progress on trips. Plus it counts down the miles to your destination, and recalculates if you miss a turn, and gives you other info you just can't get with Onstar.

another vote for an actual NAV system, not On-Star.

I really dislike the OnStar. I've always been a fan of Nav because you can also see side roads on the maps and such. I can't see where it would even go in the new Camaro, so I'm guessing I'll just end up getting a portable one and use that.

For one cost was a factor......For two you can go buy a garmin unit now for a couple hundred....
I've used turn by turn on a DTS. Called onstar asked were the closest fed-ex kinkos was the directions were downloaded to the car and there I was. The car also had Nav in it. Never looked at the screen.

Doesn't OnStar require a subscription? Nav doesn't.

Yeah it should come with an in dash navigation option since they made it damn near impossible to put an aftermarket one in there. If I want nav I don't want a little retarded garmin suction cupped to my window or dash those look tacky. Oh well, one of the few complaints I have about the car.

I always preferred the old map, and I really don't plan on using this car for any roadtrips, so I am perfectly fine with no NAV. But I agree with the metiocre-ness of On-Star, its ok but if you really need directions a lot NAV is far superior, and yes those portables look cheap.

Navi system!!!
Why the heck do you want a navi system in your Camaro. It kills the purpose of the open road and just relying on your navi system. If you want a navi just buy one from best buy. This is a muscle car not a luxury vehicle

Please do, I could use the money.
And fugit, I'll never order optionally a system like that. OnStar is great even wihtout the directions for people who can't read a map.

Give me the NAV.....Mustang, Challanger, and 350z all offer this. Where these the cars in the competition bracket? Why not offer this option.
I hate On-star.....You have to pay a monthly fee and no visual aid. What if your def or hard of hearing.
Atleast with the NAV you have the visual and hearing option. If your def you can view the big arrow showing you where to turn and it highlights the road to turn on.
