Corvette ZHZ from Hertz

Decals, wheels, new armrest.

Though it's not cheap, I'm glad more rental companies are offering cars like this. My wife and I rented a Corvette convertible a few years ago on our honeymoon and made for an awesome day of driving through Napa Valley and the Coastal Highway in San Francisco.

My wife and I tried renting a car in NYC this past March... The smallest econo-boxes were going for $80 a day - is that typical? That is twice as much as it costs in Toronto.

Granted, we phoned from the airport phones connected directly to car rental companies, so I'm wondering if the rates are higher at locations near the airport.

Car rentals in airports usually have higher taxes from those airports as well.

Cars aren't that expensive to rent elsewhere.

Those rates are pretty decent. IIRC back in May of 05 when I was looking at getting a cool car for my wedding day... the local exotic car rental place wanted $199/day for their Corvette targa and $249/day for their corvette convertible. And they were pretty ragged out too, and nowhere near as loaded up as the Hertz Vettes are.

No... but then again I always rent my cars online beforehand using rental price shopping engines so I probably get a much better rate than if I just walked straight up to the counter.

$35-45/day is much more typical for a tiny econobox car for a single day and the discounts get much better the longer you keep it for. IIRC I had a Mustang (V6) while my 335i was at the body shop... 6 weeks worked out to be about $28 a day from Enterprise.

Looks cool and a decent rate. Now the issue is getting one. Granted I have not looked to rent a the Hertz Mustang too often but it always seems to be out of stock.

Probably missed it, what happened to your 335i?

It seems Hertz has found a new way to generate profits these days.
Auctioning these limited units at the end of 9-12 months of service is netting them a tidy profit - even over and above what they are buying the cars from the OEM's for.

Slick.

Some young kids failed to yield turning left in an intersection... airbags deployed and all. ~15k in damage to my car and I had only had it for a month. It took 6 weeks for them to fix... they blamed difficulties getting parts from Germany but that may just have been an excuse. I posted about it in the lounge.
