5th gen camaro vs new G8 GXP

which one would you consider?

to me this is a very real comparison that i am considering between the two when they are both out. i wonder if gm realizes how similar these 2 cars are in the market of rwd hp cars. sure one is a 2dr and the other is a 4dr, but the new g8 has alot of things the avg consumer is looking for over a camaro, like 4 doors and modern looks/interior/space that make it a more practical car. right now im split between the 2. i love camaro and the looks are great, but the dated retro interior is a real unknown to me, seems something of a novelty thats gonna wear out on me fast with the gxp slated to get over 400hp out of an ls3 and 6sp manual and auto and the rest of the drivetrain thats gonna be similar to the camaro, its really making it hard for me. the car looks great and i love that holden interior look. the price should be similar to a mid level v8 camaro also. 4drs dont bother me, a cammed 4dr that runs low 12's is pretty sweet if you ask me

I think, overall, they'll appeal to two completely different demographics (with the exception of the die hards, of course). Both seam to be solid cars. I just prefer the look of the Camaro. The interior, I would imagine, will change over the lifespan of the car to one degree or another. I'd have to see and drive both in person to really make up my mind on something like that if I were in doubt.

The whole question is do you want 2 or 4 doors. I'm sure the Camaro will have more power and handle better. The G8 will have enough power but also have the utility of a 4 door and more usuable back seats. I'd imagine both would get similar MPG. I like the looks of the Camaro better but the G8 is a great looking car also. For me I'd like to get the V8 Camaro in 6M and the G8 GXP in A6.

Well, not entirely the whole question. There are other aspects where I know I will prefer the G8, regardless of number of doors.

I have this dilemma. I want the 5th gen. The wife wants me to have the G8. If I have to have a 4dr, it will be the G8GXP.

I'm not in the market for a 4 door. Not yet, at least.
But if I were, and was looking for a performance vehicle, I'd pick the Camaro hands down. It'll have most everything the G8 has for less. I don't know how you can beat that.

Camaro; if there was a reason that came up that I wasn't able to get one, the G8 GXP is right there in second. That's one purdy car; I'd like to see one in person.

Interior and overall style I presume.. I doubt the weight issue will come into play for this debate.

Thumbs up Traded It IN

I couldn't hold out any longer and traded in my Silver 2000 Trans Am for a Panther Black G8 GT Sport.

Oh it's a hot and fast vehicle straight from the factory.

I am sure that the GXP will be that much quicker pumping out 400 hp.

Cyclinder Management does not mean **** on this vehicle or the new Camaro. You will see the vehicle drain that tank on every drive. Though I have never actually calculated the fuel consumption, comparison reflects that the vehicle drinks more Gas than my Trans Ams!!!!!!

The only time that you can gain any fuel saving is cruising at 66 mph. City driving will drain the pocket book. Those who don't worry about $6 a gallon, you will feel the drain unless you are bringing in $200k a year!

Does the G8 have a MPG display?

Which one would I consider? Well with my money that would be the Camaro. This is the only Camaro other than the 69 that I would absoloutely love to have. Theyve fixed alot of problems Ive had with the car.

Im sure they do. The cars are differentiated enough in my mind where if you feel the Camaros interior will get old quickly for your taste then you could jump on the G8 and its still a win for GM.

Remember when GM was trying to go after the Mustang with the GTO? And that was just a few inches difference in length... Yeah, I think they know

I voted for the Camaro, but I was very tempted to by the G8 after I got in it and all. After seeing the video of the Camaro in Germany a few weeks ago I said to myself I have to stay committed. G8 is a beautiful car. However, a G8 seem like a car I will lease and not buy. I don't see the G8 will have the resale value like the Camaro will have. It just seems like the Camaro is bolder in its design. The G8 looks like it should have been the next generation of the 97-03 Grand prix.

The GXP is just too expensive it is expected to be around $38,000 you will be better off getting the GT version and upgrade your front brakes and deal with the HP difference that the L76 offers. It’s not much of a performance difference for the price they are asking for.
