Best brake pads
Best brake pads
Well, before you say search, I did.
I was just wondering what the general consensus is anymore on brake pads. I need new front ones (along with rotors) and wanted to make sure I got the right ones. I've heard that both Hawk HPS and PBR/MetalMasters are good.
I want some that are good enough for aggressive street driving (reason I didn't include the HP Plus) but do not squeak at all and at least don't have a lot of dust. How are the PBRs dust-wise?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Oh, and I read that changing brake fluid is recommended as well. How hard is this to do? I've done rotors and pads many times before but have never changed the fluid.

i got the PBRs from strano, they have good bite but less than HPS+ hard to say how much less. can still slam stops but rare to lock up front ABS like HPS+ could. i'd say about 35% less dust. still dust more than stock pads tho

That's why they appeal to me. How much would you say they dust compared to Hawk HPS pads? Either of those two sound like they would help me out quite a bit in that department.
.They DON'T work well on a race track either!

I've been running ceramic pads from PartSource (similar to Autozone I think?) ... their brand name is "Satisfied" ... not sure who the manufacturer is? They work GREAT. Clean. Quiet. AND they work well enough that I've used them out on a couple road courses with very little to no brake fade!

I believe Hawk makes ceramic pads ... I'd try them out ... but the HPS are garbage IMO
.
Anyone have any experience with EBC Greenstuff pads. I have a set I was going to install. The box says they are made with aramid fiber (kevlar) and are supposed to be very low dust. I usually use bendix semi-metallic on everything, have had no issues except a small amount of dust which I consider normal, and they seem to last very long.

also the HPS+ etched my rotors in just 12,000 miles. deeper loss of material than any pad i've tried. i do autox and generally drive hard tho
edit: right HP+ the rotor eater

. HPS are streets, and HP+ are the first step above.
