The sad thing is, it would still be faster than a V6 Mustang.

Good to hear Lutz confirm that the DI 3.6L will be the only V6 available.

i guess someone at gm missed the whole "it was too expensive the last time" cry.

i really am not intrested in an automatic ass warmer, or fancy trinket type interior, why the hell am i going to have someone try to force them on me?

sounds like gm is conceding a HUGE share of the market to ford for this car, and in doing so is going to drive up the per-unit price of a new camaro to where most of us cant afford it.

MESSAGE TO GM: HEY DUMBSAS! YOU CANT SELL IT TO ME IF I CANT AFFORD IT! YOU GOT HAMMERED BY A LESS EXPENSIVE CAR THE LAST TIME WHAT THE HELL MAKES YOU THINK IT WONT HAPPEN THIS TIME?

What's not to like about this? There'll be an turbo 4, a V6 and a V8! The bigger the engine range the bigger the demographic and more buyers there'll be.

Gas is never going to get cheaper so why be stubborn and not offer a 4 cylinder. It's not like the Camaro has never had a 4 cylinder engine in its range!

WAY TO GO GM

Now, the bit about the 'premium pricing' taht has me worried!!!

It's kind of a foriegn car policy...make your base car, decently equipped, and price it a little over the competition.
I just hope the "premium" isn't too premium, considering fuel prices and inflation today.
It'd be better to take less profit, starting out, and secure a foothold in the market again.
I think they'd sell a bunch of turbo-4 Camaro's right now!...TDi deisel and Gas.
I might consider a turbo-6 myself...

Which model were you planning to buy (V8 I'm guessing) and how much were you expecting to pay for it?

If you say "top available V8" and "less than $25,000" together in the same sentence you are dismissed.

I think 32k for the LS3 Camaro would be a fair price. I hope they offer somthing in the 450+HP range for 36k. If I buy a new Camaro which is what I have been planning it will be a pleasure only car and I want it to have big power. I had the opportunity to drive a 2008 Shelby GT 500 over the weekend and I will say power wise it felt real good. And I want that in my new Camaro. If I have to swap in a cam and header to reach that goal I guess so be it.

Why do I have a feeling you won't get anything good for less than 35k?

I really hope they give you a lot more than 450hp for your extra $4k, considering the LS3 puts out 430hp. But hey, if you pay me $4k I'll install a set of long tube headers for you.

Current base MSRP for the top Mustang GT is $27,260. I'm sure that will go up some, but if that WAS the price, i'd expect base MSRP to be no more than $27,760-28,260 for the Camaro.

Look at what the Charger R/T cost with 340hp 31k-36k and then the SRT 8 with 425hp I think they start around 36k and go north of 40k. I hope you are right that for Mid 30k we can get north of 450hp. But if not the guys on the Vette. forums are putting out close to 500rwhp with there LS3 cars with a few mods.

It's kind of a big car perceptually for a turbo 4. The last "4" the Camaro had was the 2.5L Iron Duke.

I think it would be a great idea--such that I'd be more likely to buy it moreso than a N/A V6.

Now if they'd just mention my favorite engine word, "diesel," somewhere in the lineup--I'd probably get a boner...

First off I agree with your concept.. its just the numbers are a bit off...

The top (deluxe)Mustang GT includes leather and options...

The base Mustang GT MSRP's for $26,825.00 according to ford.com

I expect the base Camaro V8 to be in the range of $26,825.00-$29,507.00 (up to 10% increase).
