change holder?
so this should be a totally off the wall question...
what about a change holder?
with more than just dimes nickels and quarters? maybe pennies and dollar coins as well?
and make it deep and not the shallow one supplied in the 4th gen
all those pennies and overflow change rattles like crazy in my ash tray

Change holder? That's what you have pockets for.

I don't think I've ever even used one of those change holders in a car. 2 cupholders for the front passengers and I'm content.

Change holders are fine. Cup holders are not. There's a reason BMW refused to put cup holders in their 3 series untill just recently, and they are afterthoughts at best: cars are for driving.
And if it were up to me, automatic transmissions would be relegated to Buicks, and everything else would be manual transmission only.
But that's just me

If they put a cup holder in it, lets hope they put it somewhere where you can actually use it. I can't stand trying to drive my M6 with anything in the cup holder, because your drink just gets in the way. Obviously the moron who decided to put the cup holder between the stick and the armrest didn't ever drive a manual!

Seriously, it needs two, well placed cup holders. I went from driving my Z daily to an 03 CTS. OMG, TWO CUPHOLDERS, SERIOUSLY, OMFG. IT'S GLORIOUS!!!!

The change holders GM puts in cars do not even fit the change we use up here in Canada. Nobody has ever been smart enough to make one that fits "loonies" and "twonies". Decent cup holders are definitely a must. I would also like to see those little plastic clips you find in Volvos that are against the windshield which are good for holding parking stubs and receipts.

Dunno about you guys, but carrying change inside the car is very useful as you might need to feed the meter sometimes and comes in handy too if you need some change for the drive thru. Also, my change sometimes slide out of my pocket when I am driving and it falls into the pivots of the seat.
As for cup holders, I think it's a given. I mean if you go cruising on a hot summer afternoon, how nice would it be to have an ice cold drink to gulp on every so often. I took my Camaro to several long distance vacations and it is nice not having to do a pit stop every so often to buy a drink, or having to buy a bottled drink and dumping it on the sides of your seat for an easy reach.

BMW's are expected to be able to be driven legally at 100mph+ speeds on a semi regular basis, so yes i'd say having a drink holder might be a distraction.
the average camaro will very rarely see 100mph+ and the only legal time this would happen is at a track where your generally not going to be snacking while driving, so a cup holder isn't detrimental

Are you suggesting that the bozo sipping his grande double mocha latte espresso in 35 mph rush hour trafic is any less dangerous than sipping it at 100 mph on the Autobahn?
