LS3 (base V8) info leaked from recent meeting in Durham ?
Of course it's from an indirect source (at least that's how it appears), but this camaro5 member claims that his cousin was in attendance of a recent executive meeting in Durham and that the LS3 will be the V8, V6 DI engine, with 4 piston front brakes.

He refers to it as a 2009 Camaro. (Not that there's anything wrong with that. )

Don't take it the wrong way, but I thought this was kind of a given?

Everybody keeps referring to it as that...imagine the bad press if the mainstream called it the 2010 Camaro..."Camaro Delayed until December 2010", blah, blah, blah, blah - GAG!!!
And though this isn't 'official' info...it does sound about right....

I've have believed the base V8 would be the LS3 for sometime. Just makes sense IMO. And the spy pics of the engine seemed to be a copy of the 3.6 DI engine cover used on Caddy's variant.
Interesting to hear about the race only Camaro. That's news to me. Dodge has already made plans for the Challenger to have a race only model and now Chevy has a Camaro. Wonder if they will someday meet in a sanctioned and lightly corp. sponsored event. Return of Trans Am...

I STILL hope that the base V8 is the LS3, because that would, beyond a shadow of a doubt, mean that the base V8 would be packing 400 hp, at least (the reason goes without saying)...no matter what this guy says...it's NOT gospel. Most of the things that he said are things that we (meaning most people on this board) have already mentioned. LS3, location of gas filler door, 4 piston brakes, remote start on the key fob, etc. Aside from obvious things, like pre-pro vs. production, location of gas filler door, etc., I'm not getting my hopes up on anything until I hear it from Scott.

one more thing...all new rear suspension setup on the mustang much like the shelby
|
I'm pretty sure everybody here knows a Shelby doesn't employ anything special when it comes to the rear suspension. Its the same 3-link found on all current Mustangs using stiffer bushings, bigger axle bearings, and posibly a stronger 3rd member case. Thats it, matter of fact the Bullitt uses the exact same rearend.

I have believed this since speculation began. Although I typically wouldn't believe a post like that, I believe what is posted in this one. Also, to validate Fbodfather's "forget all you know about engines comment", I believe this version of the LS3 will have active fuel management since gas will be $4 by the time this car meets the road.

I sure hope they put some huge tire-smoking V8 in there for you guys.
I think I'm going to be pretty happy if I buy one with the DI 3.6.
I'm also secretly hoping for an OMGWTFBBQ engine option like a diesel 6 cylinder, or a hybrid/electric setup but that's pretty much NOT going to happen.
