Why can't the Camaro interior take cues from this one...

http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/200...thumb1280x1280

This interior is magnificent! GM hit a home run with this one. HOT.

Look at the gauge cluster and steering wheel. The nav isn't practical, I know, but looking down lower at the console/climate controls.

I'm not saying copy it 100% because that would be impossible for what the car is going to cost, but jeez, THIS is the styling people want now..... not that retro garbage i'm seeing.

I disagree completely. That's a fine interior design, for a Cadillac CTS. But interiors like that cost REAL $$ to produce and sell. And if you are referring only to the 'theme' or style - again that is out of place on a value performance coupe like the Camaro. Especially the elegant analog clock

I'm referring to the general styling theme. Yes, the clock can go. I know it is impossible to duplicate this 100% because of costs. That's not where i'm going.

Look at the gauges, steering wheel and the console controls. Take those design cues.

Gauges - look nice but how would you inject any 'Camaro DNA' into them? Console controls - good luck finding a value-priced RWD IRS V8 coupe with nice little dual HVAC temp readouts and buttons on each side of the console... again a pricing/content issue. OF COURSE luxury interiors are nicer. They COST MORE.

'Camaro DNA'? Give me a break.

We need something that will cater to the general public. Something nice and modern. 16 year old Jessica doesn't give a damn about 'Camaro DNA'.

If the 3rd and 4th gen interiors are 'Camaro DNA', you can keep it.

As for console controls, again, i'm not saying duplicate them 100%. It's impossible for this car. Integrate them into one unit. Stick with the theme, but simplify it out for the Camaro.

Camaro doesn't really need dual zone climate, nav and telephone integration, or whatever else. Get rid of the clock and radio controls next to it. Integrate it with a more generic unit below and give it a good sized mono-color LCD unit....etc....

Ditch the nav unit in that pic. Replace the leather with vinyl.

And for the love of god, ditch that 'Camaro DNA' filled steering wheel. Give it a Impala wheel or something. Anything is an improvement.

I don't think this is all about Camaro DNA, or giving a thoroughly 'modern' interior. But a balance - and injecting a little uniqueness into it. Whether you like it or not - can you argue that this interior is not unique compared to today's interiors??

That is the key to it all. Uniqueness - while blending some of yesteryear's heritage into it.

And regarding the OP....why not? Because it's a Cadillac. That's all there is to it. - and FWIW (even though us 'fanboys' don't seem to merit much value around here) that doesn't look very sport-car-ish.......

It all comes down to cost as the CTS is going to be near $60,000 so you have a little more room to do things not possible in the under $30,000 range.

Second lest wait till we don't have shaky Phone Camra pictures and see what the end product looks like.

Few expected much of the new Malibu interior till we got the real thing. Now it is claimed to be one of the best Interiors Chevy has had in a long time.

Whie styling may be subjective the material will not be. I am sure the quality will be much elivated over the last two gens of Camaro as all of GM is imporving in this area.

Put your hand over the airbag and that interior could be sold for Any car.

Could the pre-production interior do that? No...

I think this odd nerve the interior is hitting with the Camaro heads won't hit like that with the average buying public.

But honestly, when has the Camaro or Firebird EVER had a "Like everyone else" look inside or out?

You won't ever see a Camaro with a Corvette/Cobalt steering wheel or the "Chevy Face" front end sharing and I like that.

Problem is there is no torque gauge. And we all know the reason for slow sales in the 4th Gen was because drivers just didn't know how much torque they were getting at any instant.

Keep in mind that we still don't know what it will look like.. It's still in the development phase..

Never know.. It could end up looking like that.. Who knows.. Just wait.. We will know for sure.
