I'm sorry.. I have a feeling the new Camaro will be around $34-38k. If I walk into a showroom w/ the anticipation to buy a new Camaro and the sticker is $38k, I'll walk out, then go down to the used car lot and buy a C5 Vette. I'm looking to spend $25-$29k for a new Camaro w/ minimal options. (Also depending on my employment status. I could be getting Medically boarded out of the MIL.)

I'm sorry... Scott, I hope you read this, because I guarantee I will not be the only one. This is supposed to be an AFFORDABLE platform to compete w/ the fire storm of Mustang sales. The Challenger is rumored to be priced at $37,900... FK that!

Also.. I have a sneaking suspicion that the way the economy is going, we will be in a recession by the time the new Camaro is out. It was said late last year that people are spending more than they make.. THEN FF to this time of year, they say that people have slowed their spending. This is goign to continue and it will effect GM. The 5th gen will not sell because of the recession and it will start the downfall of GM.. -Don't ask. I went of on a tangent and this is how I see things happening.

Carry on..

I fear that our beloved Camaro introduction could not come at a worse time in our economy.....gas prices are rising and a recession is definately coming. This sucks..... additionally the cost for GM to build this car in Canada is rising due to the devaluation of the U.S. dollar.
Unfortunately this looks like the "perfect storm"....it figures since I'm involved in it...

typical worries...Not that they're unfounded. It's just - Well, I don't know. I don't think we're headed for Armageddon. Sure, a little troubles ahead...and why? Because people are stupid..Stop. I'm not going there (breath)...

Okay, when you say 38k...it's relative. What are you looking for? a monster limited-numbers Camaro w/ 500+hp? Or your regular V8 with plenty of giddyup? Rest assured you won't find a regular V8 Camaro for over 35k base-priced. That's suicide. AND it's been said how many times that this is going to be an affordable, Mustang-fighting Car?!?!
The Challenger is...well, a Challenger. Cerebus isn't GM, and the particular SRT8's coming in '08 are meant to be special edition versions. Take away the prestige-pricing on that...and I'd bet you can see 5k stripped off the car. Besides, I have to say it again, because it's so important - Cerebus, and the Challenger isn't GM and the Camaro. GM has told us it will be affordable. Why are you questioning that?

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but the Camaro is supposed be a mass-produced, affordable sport coupe. Don't worry. You'll see a V8 for under 30k. If I remember hearing what I heard correctly.

$34-$38K for which Camaro with what options? BTW, the Challenger's price is not rumored, it's been announced, but that's for the top of the line SRT8.

I personally think that you'll be able to buy a V8 Camaro within the price range you've mentioned. I'd call that very affordable. You'll also be able to buy a V8 Mustang or V8 Challenger in that price range.

geez...there's no point in getting stressed out now...wait and see what happens. It's still over a year away and there's been no indications that it wont be at or near your price-range. GM knows that if the base Camaro is in $30's, they aren't going to sell too many.

In 2009 Id be willing to bet that one will be able to get a base V-8 Camaro for no more than $31K and if that does happen what a deal that'll be. $34-38k though still isn't bad at all considering the theory of relativity. A 2008 Mustang GT graces the 30K barrier already and 1 year from now it could be roughly at 32k. A G37 coupe is $40k today and an 03 Cobra was 35k new in 03. So even for $34k your getting a brand new Camaro, with IRS, a very compotent v-8 and many amenities whats all the complaining about?

I think the fact that the Camaro is on it's way and we've seen that Camo mule now, is just agonizing knowing we can't drive one for another year. This is what brings upon all these beating a dead horse type questions.

It never seems to amaze me how much people will bitch and complain about stuff. I mean NO information has been released about the models or prices and some of us already want to start complaining. Sure we would all love to have a fully loaded 500 hp Camaro for $25K and you better believe GM would love that too because they couldn't sell enough of them. But just as Scott has always told me, "we will never have the ability to make everybody happy." I'm sure the people complaining now will be the same ones that will complain about their new 5th gen as they drive it around. So for now how about we stop with all of the sky is falling stuff everytime we hear something new about another car coming out. I mean I just heard the new Lambo will have 700hp and will be able to outrun the top of the line 5th Gen. Oh hell, better start worrying about that now. I have said it once and I will say it again, the Challenger SRT was never meant to compete with the Camaro. I still think it will be a limited edition car like the Prowler. I'm done!!

I could live with 34-38 for an LS3 model.

Yes it was and no it won't -- at least, the SRT version won't be any more "limited" than the other SRT8s.
