Vortech V-1 S trim vs ProCharger P1SC

I have a chance to buy a complete Vortech V-1 S trim blower w/ the aftercooler and crane box for $2k. I really wanted to put on a ProCharger D1SC kit but I really can't afford that and build a new bottom end. I was just wondering how the Vortech kit compares to the ProCharger? From what I've been told, the S trim is more inline with the P1SC head unit, is this true? I'm putting together a forged bottom end 383 that will be blower purpose built. What kind of boost will a S trim make? Vortech told me around 20#. Please let me know if this is a good deal, money is hard to come by these days. Thanks for any help you can send me.

I believe the S-trim is similar to a Procharger P600B and the T-Trim is like the P1SC but the P1SC is just a tiny bit better. I base this on the specs Procharger and Vortech post on their websites about their own models.

I hope someone with some experience with both models will chime in and confirm.

I'm also wondering if I can change to a FMIC instead of that aftercooler? I would also like to learn more about what all I will need to put a good combo together. I don't want to waste a lot of money on buying the wrong stuff. Where could I read up on blower comparisons and stuff?

I would personally!

I've only known 1 person with a Vortech S-trim w/ a aftercooler and they hated it and sold it, he ended up just using Meth injection without any intercooler.

Procharger firmly believes in their intercoolers and has some pretty convincing information on the whole subject. They will send you a free information packet in the mail if you go on their site. I actually enjoyed what they sent me!

I have the Procharger info, the guy at Vortech was an *** and not much of a help. I was only gonna get the Vortech because of the price.

You can run a FMIC on the S-trim. I have the T-trim with a FMIC, you can see pics of how everything is mounted on my cardomain site which is listed in my sig.

I only have good things to say about Prochargers customer support! I've never had anything to do with Vortech so i can't say either way there.

I will say one thing though, i am VERY pleased with my P1SC! Its exactly what i expected and more! Not one little leak, no shaft play, runs smooth, great belt traction, nothing but good things to say about it!

Incorrect!

The P600B and P1SC and completely different stepup ratios which is the main difference between the P600B, P1SC, and D1, S-trim, T-trim.

The p600B is rated at 650hp. The S-Trim 650, and the T-trim is 825hp.
The P1SC is rated at 825 as well as the D1.

The S-trim and P1SC are in completely different levels!

Yep, I looked immediatley after posting and realised my mistake, so I removed the incorrect info. If you look at the edit time on that post, you can see that I had allready removed it before you corrected me, so there :P lol

Do you guys think that $1700-$2000 is a good deal for a V-1 S trim blower with all the piping, Crane Hi-6 box and pullies? It was on a car, but he owed my buddy some $$$$ so he gave him this. The blower has no play in the pulley or anything.

I would say thats about an average deal, I bought my T-Trim kit from a friend for 2000.00. He had just upgraded from the S-Trim to the T-Trim and the head unit had less than 10k on it when I bought it.

Unfortunately the kits have jumped in price like crazy. The D1sc kit I was looking at was around $4700 now it's like $6600.
