What is Best Sounding/ Performance Mufflers 4 Tru-Duals ??

Hey Guys,
Currently I have an ol'school set up on my 93 Z . LT's w/ dynomax bullets coming off the headers . Now I want to extend my exhaust to a tru-dual set up dumping at the axle . Which mufflers could I buy that won't let my car lose much horsepower and still be a solid performer ? My goal is to be able to drive to the track without the local boys in blue paying any attention to me. Here are few of my choices & tell me what you think ..........

1 Moroso Spirals $47.00
2 Summits Mufflers $19.00 .........some people say they flow good
3 Edlebrock 304 SS $ 120+.00

Thanks in advance

You could also check out some Borla mufflers, Magnaflow mufflers

I want to give a set of the borlas a try, but for $130 each for the cheaper ones they are still too expensive IMO but I'm sure they just sound bada$$

Id say either the Borla XR1's or the Magnaflow's...4" round bullet-style.

i have the spiral flows, and am constantly getting compliments on the sound

I like it because its loud, but has no drone on the highway at 70. I can have the radio off goin 70, and BARELY hear it

If you can't see through it you're going to have some restiction. I have experience with a type of each muffler you mention.

Summit mufflers are turbo style. The flow path is an S shape through the muffler. I ran some turbo style mufflers on my 70 SS for a while and on a Mk VII LSC we had. Not the most free flowing, and are pretty quiet. They're pretty mellow mufflers.

SDT's are also not the most free flowing. Those baffles do create turbulence and decrease flow. I had Spintechs which are to use this design.

Spirals aren't bad. They do kill rasp well. I'm running a Pro-flo twister in my I pipe. You can get them for ~$25. They're nice, but they don't have the deeper rumble that a larger cased muffler will give you.

Straight through full sized mufflers like Borla, Magnaflow or the Dynomax Ultraflow would be my recommendation. I had duals w/Dynomax mufflers for the last exhaust I had on my 70. Sounded good, but did have some rasp at higher RPM.

as you can see, the middle is like a straight pipe

those are 2 1/2"

borlas are probably the best performing muffler while still sounding good

also look into flowmaster delta-race series (75ish/each)
the the money, you can't beat spiral flows, or dynomax bullets
personally, i will never swap mine out

hey mac...haven't seen you in a long time.

I had the bullets for a while....then went to the edelbrocks, they are alot quieter, still loud at WOT but alot more of a mellow tone and I think the are the thinnest you can fit also

Not sure when I will be back to the track but hope soon, If so I will let you know so you can hear them

What size pipes are you running? I had a 2.5" x-pipe setup with no mufflers dumped at the azle and it sounded pretty quiet. I have heard 3" setups with bullets and the likes, which sounded ungodly loud compared to the 2.5" setup I had. IMO 2.5" duals with bullets is really quiet if ou have an H or and X.

i've got summit cheapy turbos on my true duals, the actually flow awesome and still sound really good. in my view, if you want cheap and decent quality and sound, go with the summits. check out my website if you want to see what they look like installed. www.cardomain.com/id/king1138
