My screen just turns itself off after 15 minutes of idle time. If I'm not at the computer, why should there be anything on the screen?
Whatever... I have a Mac, so it's not like any CZ28 screensavers would be compatible anyway... or would they?

Yes, I run a screen saver. I usually change it often. Right now I have the movie "300" screen saver up.

I use a screen saver, but it is only on for about 5 minutes before the power save mode kicks in. Right now I've got a C6 screen saver I downloaded from the Corvette Museum. I've had it on my computer since I bought it about 18 months ago.
I'd like a good Trans Am screen saver if anyone knows where I can get one.

I use the Windows screen saver at home to randomly select photos. For a while it was various Camaro photos I had collected, but now its photos of my lab.
At work I don't use a screen saver, but I simply turn off my monitor when I'm away from my desk.

I use one, but don't change it often just becasue i am too lazy to look for one. I used the Camaro screensaver on the GMperformance website, but recently changed it to this really cool one that assembles an LS engine step by step... by far the coolest one I have found so far...

Mine only runs for about 30mins. then goes to sleep. I was told by a reputable person that with colored monitors you don't need a screen saver, they don't burn in like the old ones, so it's kinda redundant.

The color doesn't have an any effect on whether or not you get burn in, it is dependent on the technology. Any type of CRT monitor can get burn-in whether it is color or black and white. With LCD monitors you don't have to worry about anything as they are not susceptible to burn-in.
With that said, CRT technology has come far enough along that burn-in is not nearly as prevelant as it once was; however, I don't use a screensaver to prevent burn-in. I just use it becasue I think they are cool.

Not true. I have a 21-in CRT at home that has major burn-in. With a white background on any page you can see ghosts of all the desktop icons.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was tryin' to say without gettin' all techical and stuff. Your absulutly correct, and I do use the saver for the same reason as you.

Modern CRT monitors are a LOT less susceptible to burn-in than old ones, hence the perceived correlation with color. If you were to go out and buy a brand new CRT today, turn it on, put an image on the screen, and leave it there, it would probably take over a week to burn in. Ten years ago, it was a few hours. Twenty years ago, it was a few minutes.
Plasma TVs can burn in, and it only takes a few minutes. That's why DVD players and DVRs have screen saver modes. LCD and DLP are pretty much safe.
