How is the guy stupid? Was he using spray? I don't see how it could really be his fault if not.. seems like a fluke, it was that engines time to go.. whether it be on the dyno or on a spirited highway run.

Perhaps it was not spray, but being on a dyno perhaps they had changed the tune of the car and that is what caused it to blow.. and yea. sounded pretty expensive to me.. ussually anything involving a loud noise and then smoke from an engine compartment is expensive...

Not to mention blowing the engine of a $35k-$110k car. I'm sure those aren't cheap to replace.

Seeing as how something like that's happened to me.... It could've been the nitrous line blowing off of the solenoid (however you spell it). Liquid nitrous suddenly hitting the room air would cause a cloud of smoke just like that. Under 1000 or more psi, that hose'll make quite a boom when it snaps off. Scared the crap out of me when mine blew off.

Sounded like some kind of high pressure (pop) to me too. Easy guys, it might not be as expensive as it looks.

Yeah, just sounded like a big pop. Something went but I doubt it was the engine. That's more of a horrifying metal-on-metal screeching/clunking/death. I doubt it would have been that loud too.

That's what gets me every time I see that video. Loud bang a few feet from him, he just kind of looks over... huh, smoke.

Look at the guy in the chair just before the nitrous is activated... He starts shaking his head and frowns in disgust.

They old dude was shaking his head. Maybe it was running rich, or maybe it was because the car was making only 200hp at 6000rpm
