injector swap

how long should i plan for an injector swap, and figure its about 30 degrees outside? 97z. i dont need a fuel rail disconnect tool do i? Dont i just pull the rail and remove the clips and they come out?

a buddy of mine did this in about an hour from start to finish.

a hour is about right if your new at this but pretty decent with working on cars. If you are a novice at working on cars as well as never did this before could take a little longer but its really about as easy as you can get.

Just remove 4 bolts (I forget the exact size but I think they are 8mm/ 5/16 off the top of my head). Remove the injector to harness clips by pushing in then grabbing at the ends and pull out of the grooves, then pry up on the rail with a flat head screw driver. wiggle it a little and it will pop off a injector at a time. Then slide the clips off the injectors , then wiggle the injectors out (the hard one's you might have to twist the injector so the harness end is under the rail then use the rail with a screw driver to pop it off. Then you can just install the new one's. Be sure to use a little lubricant of some kind on the o rings. It will help with the install. (no fuel line removals necessary).

Its not a hard task to do, as mentioned above, it is very important that you lubricate the o-rings before putting the rail back in. As for how long it will take, some people who are very good at it can take under an hour. I wouldn't rush though, just take your time and do it right.

A little motor oil works great to lube the o-rings. Also blow off the intake manifold before you start to keep dirt/sand from falling into the injector holes.
