What caps to block off AIR on Pacesetter LTs
I am wanting to install my Pacesetter LT's this weekend and remove my AIR. What kind of a cap do I need for the headers? It will need a cap, I found one au Ace Hardware but it is made out of brass and I am aftraid the exhaust heat will melt the brass.

It won't melt. I have the same brass fittings i found at menards. I put some RVT sealant on the threads before i screwed it on. As long as it fits, use it.

Awesome, I guess I will give em a try. They are standard fittings and not metric, but they fit just fine.

you need a 5/8" standard flare thread cap it would be in a plumbing gas flare fitting. Anderson metals makes a good brass cap that isn't bulky at all. Support your local hardware store (true value)

I cut the AIR tubing and took off the original nut type thing that screws into the header. Then I welded it shut and screwed it back in. Works like a charm!

Yeah, I tried true value first, but supriseingly they didn't have it. So I went into Menards, I didn't know the exact size, so I just took my old manifold in with me and tried caps until I found one that fits.

Yeah its a 5/8". I bought two caps, and one fit perfectly and this other one was just a little bit longer so I just used some plumbers tape on the threads and am hoping it bottomed enough to make a seal. I guess ill see by saturday, my header install is starting friday and will most likely take me saturday to.

Like everyone one else says, get the brass ones- they won't melt. I did the same with my Edelbrock headers about 2 years ago and they're still holding strong...
