2.5" or 3"
Im going to get a x pipe/true dual setup and I was wondering what others thought would be the best for performance but not as loud as those track monsters with bullet mufflers. Im definitely going with a chambered muffler, most likely a Edelbrock SDT, but i was wondering if I shold go 2.5" or 3"?
I want it to sound good, but not too loud, but Im worried if I go with 2.5" Ill sacrifice too much power.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...thanks in advance.

Check out this thread. Great info. Dual 2.5" will support 513 hp (about 420 rwhp) provided that the mufflers you choose flow as much as or more than a 2.5" open pipe.

2.5" duals would be better for ground clerance, but i think your mufflers will be the lowest point on your exhaust. Have you considered some type of tube muffler for low space applications, like flowmaster hushpowers, dynomax bullets, or sweet thunder chambered mufflers.

unless you plan to make 450hp...the 2.5" setup will work fine.
now that's assuming your mufflers are not a serious restriction. personally i would suggest the magnaflow 4x9" mufflers. they are straight through design and help with sound ALOT.
look up the true duals thread started by gripenfelter a few months ago...i posted vids of my cammed LS1...one with open straight pipes, and one with magnaflows...you could barely tell when i started the car.
