2007 Tahoe PPV (Police Pursuit Vehicle) is a Impressive Performer

It looks like the 2007 Tahoe police pkg. is a pretty impressive performer considering its an full-size SUV. The annual Michigan State Police test recently conducted tests on all 2007 model police pkg. and special service pkg. vehicles.
In acceleration and tests the 2007 Tahoe PPV faster than everything except for the Hemi powered Charger and Magnum, and topped out at 137 mph which was a higher top speed than the Hemi powered Magnum attained which was 131 mph.
In braking again the Tahoe PPV at 138 ft outbraked everything from 60 to 0 except for the Charger and Magnum which both took 132 ft to stop.

The 3.55's should have shaved time off the accel times if it did nothing else.
Maybe they had ASW tires on one and performance tires on the other?
Also wonder what happened with the Impala that gave it a "jump" between 80 and 100?
It was slower by .36 at 80, faster by .14 at 90, then way slower by .66 at 100?

Sloppy shift at the top end maybe? Hmmm...

EXACTLY! Somethings way goofy there.

These are the preliminary results from there testing in September, the full report isn't ready yet, which may shed some light on the odd #s. I always take there test results with a grain of salt, real world #s on these cars are always somewhat faster.
In years past the 3.55 has been around half a second faster than the 3.27 Interceptor. I really don't understand the 3.55 option, there is not much difference in the performance, and with the handicap of only topping out at 119 mph really negates the option. For the life of me I can't figure out why Ford won't equip a high speed balanced driveshaft so the 3.55 car can acheive a higher top speed, or further more why not drop a 3V 4.6 in it.
As far as acceleration on the Crown Vic vs the Impala, our '06 Impalas will pull away from the Crown Vic as the speeds get higher, and then at around 120-125 mph its like the Crown Vic stops accelerating, and the Impalas continue to pull away to around 140 mph.

Price would be the main reason, most govt. agencies would not be able to afford them in quantities. For instance the Impala 9C1 is a little over $18K, the Ford Police Interceptor (Crown Vic) is a little over $21K under govt. contract price. I think the Tahoe PPV starts around $25-26K, which is around the same price as the Charger Police Pkg.

yea but a Trailblazer SS is no more expensive then a base tahoe... expecially if you removed all the leather and stuff that the trailblazer comes standard with...
