Its all preference, and whoever is dealing with surge needs to learn to tune. Maybe its my innner rice, or maybe its the ls1 I never got, but ya Ill take peak power above 3k.
The only advice I could really give anyone is try to find a car to ride/drive in with a cam similar to what you want. I know of an lt1 with a 250 duration .630 lift cam and its a blast to drive.

Does that help any?
I know I have my 12.9 N/A street tire in my archive I will upload it when I find it. The hot cam + nitrous 11.18 run I don't have on tape but here is one of me trapping 126 mph.
http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...07012f3934.htm
The nitrous didn't kick in untill 60' (you can see it in the clip), but I did launch with it on the same day, but my camera guy was MIA for the pass. Either way I found a bunch of E.T. as I uprgaded my suspension. Vid of the SS Vs. the audi was in 03 when the suspension was dead stock. The vid of the SS vs. fairmont was in late 03 when I had the the torque arm, 12 bolt, qa1's, slicks & skinnies etc...

Re: LT4 Hot CAM VS CC306 ???
Well, I wasn't talking about the nitrous run. I believe the 12.9 with 2.1 60 and street tires. The trap seems a bit low. It's really hard to believe the Hoosiers didn't help you more than .2-.3. The hp and torque numbers just can't be right. I was pushing 330 through a 9 inch and automatic unlocked running 11.70's at 113. Are those corrected numbers? Were you running an m6? 345 hp = 114-115 traps, not 107-108. Those don't add up. Nice runs on the jug though.

Re: LT4 Hot CAM VS CC306 ???
Track times and MPH can be very different. Weather, Altitude, Car weight, Gears just to name a few things. I've got 396 rwhp and only trap 113 but my cars heavy and the air was poor that day. When I had 346 rwhp it trapped 110 on a good day. Unless you both run at the same track on the same day you can't really compare anything.

Well, there's no need to beat a dead horse. I don't know where you guys are running - maybe a 2500 ft. track in the middle of the summer. If I had an LE2package in a 1996 ImpalaSS with the air on and only trapped 113 I would be pissed!

Re: LT4 Hot CAM VS CC306 ???
The car is a 6 speed and at the time of the run weighed about 3700 lbs.
The numbers are right. 114-115 trap speed is about 380 to the tire. I built a hot cam ls-1 SS that was stock except the cam and hedders, it made about 380 to the wheel and runs mid/ low 12's at 114-115. on street tires. I would expect high 11's at about the same mph or 1-2 less with a 28" wrinkle wall slick.
You are the one of the very few people I have interacted with that thinks it should of gone faster. When I was building it I didn't expect better.

Re: LT4 Hot CAM VS CC306 ???
114-115mph = 400hp here. If I listened to what everyone said on here I would have been pissed when my car trapped 96mph stock. But then I realize I have picked up 20 mph on motor.

In the end I think youll find that 9 times out of 10 the car with the CC306 wins the race, all other variables the same. I dont know if you have an auto, but either one would enjoy a health aftermarket torque converter and some higher gear. You'll then have to find a solution to the traction proble your going to have.
You usually have to spin the CC306 higher to get the most out of it, but its all about what you want to do with your car. Some rev the Hotcam pretty high too. Some make 340-345rwhp with the Hotcam, most dont. Most make 340-350rwhp with the CC306, some dont. But seat time, suspension, and traction, many times is what will win the race, so dont exclude those. E-WP and 1.6 RR's are a few things that might give you an edge over someone else, adding about 20hp to your setup.
xxsaint69x trapped 115 with his CC306, and I dont even think he had an E-WP.

I absolutely would have killed to have those trap speeds! Yea 3700 lbs. is alot of freight to haul. I was surprised that the wrinkle wall didn't affect my traps at all really. All I know is when I went to the Hoosiers from the BFG's, I went from 12.1X's to 11.70's. I know the car could have gone 11.60's one night because I laid down a 7.39 8th mile but had to let off after running over someone's tranny fluid the run before. Still went 11.78 @ 101 lifting off. I will bet that on a good cool night, with a killer 60, your car had 11.60's in it too. It's really hard to drive a 6 speed right off the line, but if you can do it, the extra 25 at the wheels can really be effective.

Re: LT4 Hot CAM VS CC306 ???
A friend of mine had a 96 Z28 A4 dead stock except for cold air and a 2500 stall. All he did was cry about how his car never had traction "track was grezier than sht' only got a 2.2 60" and so on. On one particular track day, my car wasn't running and I gave him my 28's. I bolted them on and sent him on his way. The car lost 2 mph in the big end, and he could barely turn them over in the water box. He claimed to have traction problems, but I think it just boged when he tried to launch it. Slick tires like that are strange if you never had them before. It's not quite what most people expect.
