Anyone else notice the headlights/turnsignals appear black in the day giving RS look?
In the videos that have been put out recently, when the cars driving around on the streets, you cant see the recessed headlights of turnsignals. Gives it kinda a 67-68 RS look without needing the doors. Just curious if anyone saw that?

I thought having the daytime running amber corners was awsome on the 4th gens. I always like seeing them on when a fbody is coming down the street very cool I think.

I don't know what do you think. I took this when Cindy was getting her test ride in it

I believe he means in most of the videos of it in motion. And he's right, you can't really see the headlights in those videos. It just looks black and vacant in the videos. I actually don't like that fact, it makes it look featureless and dull. I'm hoping it's just the videos and it doesn't necessarily appear that way in person.
Someone mentioned the DRL's. I hope they either do away with them entirely (I've noticed a number of new cars dont' have them anymore.) or keep them as the amber turn signals. Either way I hope they are as easy to disable as they were in my '00 S10 Xtreme and '02 Camaro.

I thought DRL's were a requirement from DOT. Can anyone confirm this?

My friends (not really Camaro gearheads by any means) will sometimes see the amber lights of a Grand Am or something similar, Waaaay of, and say something like "Here comes a Camaro isnt it?" lol

Well to an untrained eye yes.....Not only F-Bodys had the DRLs.

You obviously don't OWN a 4th gen F-body, do you?
Your comment puts me an an opposite corner. I hate DRL with an absolute passion and I think the person who came up with it (along with those even more annoying and frustrating non-defeatable automatic headlights should be taken out to a field and shot.
It's the one thing that had I known about during a test drive (I took it at night) I would have not bougt my 97 Z, and would have instead bought a used older 4th gen instead.
Sure, one click of the hand brake bypasses both, and there's some rewiring that will fix the issue (which Chevrolet dealers won't do because it's a " safety" device), but to think that I have to go this route because there are actually people too lazy to reach a couple of inches to turn a switch is just mindboggling.

Why do you not like DRLs? All you keep saying is you hate them. I don't see how they effect the driver, except for making you a little more visable to others. And you can't disable the DRLs (marker lights) without changing the wiring.

Yeah, I meant in the videos... Even in your pic though its bright and it almost looks like the headlights are going toward black out... I actually thought it was kinda cool. I like the black out grille, but I would like to see the headlights and the agressive v of the recessed grille.
As for the daytime lights, not a fan. Ive replaced a ton of bulbs for various reasons on my 98. I didnt like that you didnt have the option to turn them off. I used to come home at night shut my lights off and back in my drive. The automatic night time lights broke me of that because they couldnt be shut off. Im not even sure my e brake defeats it once its out of park. Also once the headlights are on, the only way to get them off is to shut the car off, pull the e brake start the car and keep it in park. Im not a fan of that driverless car theyve been working on either, but I dont want to hijack my own thread.

In my '02 Camaro there was a relay or something behind the radio that I just popped out. It disabled the DRL's and the auto-headlights.
In my '00 S10 Xtreme there was a relay under the hood in the fuse box that had 3 or 4 prongs on it. Simply snipping off one of those prongs disabled the DRL's. And the 'Dome Overide' button in the cab of the truck could be pushed on and off 4 times to disable the auto-on's.

That's what I didn't like in the few videos of it driving around. The grille and headlights seem to appear flat in them. And it takes away from the agressive look of the nose of the car.

Is a '98 different from an '02? Look on the 'net, I'm sure you'll find out how to disable them. I did it within a month of having my '02...
EDIT- This looks to be the site I used to disable mine-
http://www.xse.com/leres/ss/drl.html
Now it may be a bit more complicated for you if you have a manual transmission... I had an automatic so I just used this option (about halfway down the page)-
--------------------------
Can I just remove the DRL connector?
Yes, removing the C2 connector will disable DRL and automatic headlights. It also prevents the ebrake switch from turning on the "BRAKE" light on your instrument cluster. And with a manual transmission, it disables the power hatch release.
Removing the C1 connector will disable DRL and automatic headlights. However it also disables the front turn signal lights.
---------------------------
I just removed the C2 connector as it wasn't that important to me if the eBrake light didn't come on...

I dont want the grille looking flat either. I wouldnt sweat it too much, the camera can play tricks on you sometimes... Im sure high end Cameras would pick up more of what you actually see. I just thought it was neat.
